Saturday, October 10th, 2015 will be the United Way of Brown County's 18th Annual Day of Caring. The Day of Caring is an annual event to make a positive difference through volunteering. The Day of Caring is "One Day to Help One Another. Teams provide services for people who for diverse reasons, cannot do for themselves. Some non-professional service projects include: raking leaves, washing windows, cleaning gutters, moving boxes or furniture, yard work, housework and much more.
Last year 250 volunteers on 23 teams spent part of their Saturday helping others in our county. The day began with team pictures and a pancake breakfast donated, prepared and served by the Farm City Hub Club. Then teams took their snacks provided by KRAFT and People First of New Ulm along with water donated by Kwik Trip, Hy-Vee and Arneson Distributing and headed out to complete their assigned projects. Most teams were done by noon so they didn't have to give up their entire Saturday. If you would like to be part of this wonderful day by registering a team, being part of a team or by submitting a project please contact our office at 507-354-6512 or visit us at unitedwaybrowncountyarea.org |
Event Update
2015 "Stuff the Backpacks" project
In August the United Way of Brown County packed and distributed over 500 backpacks for children in Brown County through our "Stuff the Backpacks" project. This important project would not be possible without the generous donations from area businesses, organizations, churches and community members. We also had a crew of wonderful volunteers who helped with every aspect of the project. A big THANK YOU to all who made this year's backpack project a success.
