CarePlus Wellness Program

A new cycle of our popular "Fitness Camp" is in session! Conducted by CarePlus' own Lorraine Gehrig-Mullins, who is also a Certified Personal Trainer. Fitness Camp includes a combination of weight training and cardio exercises done side by side with coworkers and friends!

Cycle 8 will be starting this week with the first session on February 3rd. It will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 in Paramus, and runs for four weeks. It is open to all Care Plus employees.

Employees can register for one or both days via carepluswellness.com (password: carewell), or by contacting Kitty, Brigitte, or Lorraine.

The cost for employees with insurance through Care Plus is $20 for one day/$40 for both days (fixed price for whole cycle).

Even if you are not sure that you can commit to the full cycle, be sure to get on the e-mail list for extra motivation to be well.

Teamwork:

If we remove the "I" and replace it with "We", even Illness becomes Wellness!

Program Marketing

Now that CarePlus has been successfully rebranded, the next step is to create stable interagency communication so that we can advertise our services effectively.

This involves appropriately updated Program Fact Sheets, comprehensive marketing folders, social media spotlights, and up to date information on the CarePlus website.

If you need any printed materials for your program, teams or presentations you will need to utilize the electronic request form. This new system is being used to ensure timely completion of projects.

This month a new marketing campaign will launch which will highlight CarePlus services through the Facebook Page, starting with the therapeutic adolescent groups.

If you would like to put your team, group or program in the spotlight, contact the ACE team to make arrangements. You can also send positive reviews and feedback for coworkers and clients that go above and beyond.

Stress Less!

Return to Your Breath

It seems so simple to remember to breathe - after all, it is a involuntary function. However, taking a moment to be mindful of a long inhale and exhale has a number of therapeutic properties. Give your mind a break from work by taking at least one refreshing breath every hour in the office!

Take a Lunch Break

Everybody knows how fast the work day can go - often there is so much to do, there is barely time to eat. So, many people end up dining in front of the computer screen in between e-mails - which is okay, but make sure you take a moment to be present during your lunch. Be grateful for your food, give yourself a minute to appreciate your hunger dissolving, and allow your body to absorb the nutrients so that you are fueled for the
rest of the day!

Spotlight: Children's Mobile

"No matter when I come to them and ask them to help walk a client through the Perform Care process, they are ALWAYS wonderful and helpful."

The Children's Mobile team works hard to provide excellent service to families in the local community - 24/7. Director Jessica Shea explained: "The team has always received positive feedback for our efforts. Over the past two years new strategies have been employed to broaden the availability of services to include not only behavioral and psychiatric needs, but also the needs of all children on the Autism Spectrum."

What most people don't realize is that this team works around the clock to provide these top of the line services. When team members are not in the office screening emergency calls, they are out in the field helping families. This not only means overnight shifts on the weekdays, but also requires rotating hours of being on call throughout the weekend. Thank you for making a positive difference with your amazing work, Children's Mobile team!

"I just want to say how awesome Children's Mobile is.  No matter when I come to them and ask them to help walk a client through the Perform Care process, they are ALWAYS wonderful and helpful.  I feel so good knowing that the clients will be taken care of and appropriately linked... just wanted to give kudos, as I really appreciate having that resource."

- Michele Lapine, APN Child Adolescent Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Strides in Breaking Stigma

Watching the Stigma-Free campaign grow has been inspiring on many levels. Bergen County is lucky to have so many compassionate individuals who are willing to volunteer their time and efforts for the greater good.

Over the past few months:

  • Paramus SFZ has sold many T-shirts and distributed magnets to spread awareness.
  • Paramus SFZ received funds for some of the town school professionals to get certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid.
  • Park Ridge SFZ received a donation from the Park Ridge Rotary to provide a free community training on Youth Mental Health.
  • Tenafly held a meeting to brainstorm on ways to bring the Stigma-Free initiative into the school system

Development Committee Kick-Off

On Thursday January 15, 2015, board members, staff, and friends of CarePlus attended a dinner party at Sanzari's New Bridge Inn in New Milford to celebrate the creation of the new Development Committee. Guests were asked to volunteer to help the Advocacy and Community Education (ACE) team in planning and executing the biggest fundraising events of the year.

Joe Masciandaro thanking guests for their hard work and dedication.

The 17th Annual Courage Awards Gala is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3rd at The Venetian in Garfield. The first few months of the Development Committee meetings will focus on organizing the Gala. There are many factors that go into making this event a success, and more help means less stress!

Volunteers will be needed for the auction, the decoration committee, finding sponsorships, constructing the journal, and conducting the scholarship process. This event takes a lot of energy, but it comes together beautifully and is very rewarding for all involved.

Later in the year the Development Committee will switch gears to work on planning the 4th Annual Golfers Give Back Charity Outing - scheduled to take place on Monday, September 21st at Edgewood County Club in River Vale.

Once again, volunteers will be needed for the auctions, in finding sponsorships, and in putting together "Goodie Bags" for participants of the Golf Outing. There are also a number of small, general tasks that will require extra hands - so even if you cannot commit to a big project, we can still use your help!

The first Development Committee meeting will be held in Paramus on February 3rd at 6 pm. This is the perfect opportunity to become more involved in our organization and to contribute to these incredible community events. If you, or someone you know, would like to be a part of the Development Committee please contact the ACE team by sending to the *ACE e-mail list.
