News
This message is from our Executive Director:

Dear NCVPS Teachers, Students, and Partner Schools,

I want to share with you an exciting change in the way NCVPS will provide support to all of our virtual stakeholders.  For the past five years, NCVPS has provided a regional approach to supporting schools by assigning a Virtual Learning Consultant to each LEA who could respond to any support needs.  This approach provided schools with a personal contact that has been highly valued. However, given the growth in enrollment over the past few years our Virtual Learning Consultants have increasingly been dedicating time to addressing a multitude of smaller issues rather than providing districts with support on higher level issues that many would like to receive. We believe by reorganizing how we support our schools, teachers, and students, that we can continue to provide all stakeholders with a timely response on the day to day support concerns as well as provide all with quality support on higher end needs.

Beginning on December 5, 2012, any NCVPS Teacher, Student, eLearning Advisor, or other school or district personnel who has a need for support will direct their needs to the NCVPS Virtual Support Center. Support needs may include technical needs, registration assistance, questions about teacher of record, and any other items for which a stakeholder needs assistance. Through the Virtual Support Center, you will have access to all members of the NCVPS staff as your request will be directed to the person who can best address your needs. Our Virtual Learning Consultants will transition into new roles within NCVPS, therefore, you should no longer contact them directly for support or questions. Instead, please go to http://www.help.ncvps.org/ to open a ticket. Your concern will be immediately directed to the person within NCVPS who can best address your need and provide you with a prompt response. Your ticket will be tracked and used to improve processes throughout the organization.

I am excited about the transition to the Virtual Support Center as it will allow NCVPS to provide timely, high quality support for all.  I appreciate your patience in the transition to this new model.

Sincerely,

Tracy S. Weeks, Ph.D

CRStandardsCredit Recovery Testing Standards
Based on information from NC DPI, course codes for Credit Recovery courses have changed based on the standards taught in the course.

The Credit Recovery courses currently in Registration for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 are for the courses based on the former NC Standard Course of Study standards and end in code (CR).

Following our directive from NC DPI, NCVPS will be adding additional Credit Recovery courses in the Registration for Spring 2013 that represent the new Common Core and Essential Standards with a different end code (XR).   NCVPS assumes that any studentscurrently registered for Spring 2013 Credit Recovery need to recover the credit based on the the former standards. If this is not the case, students need to be dropped.

Any students who need to recover a credit based on the new standards that rolled out this fall will need to sign up for the new course with the end code XR. These courses (with the end code XR) will trigger the EOC whereas the courses based on the old standards (with the end code CR) will not.

Please contact Michelle Lourcey (michelle.lourcey@ncpublicschools.gov) for any questions!
