Dear

LAB5 Studio Updates

Last week kicked off the new Yoga classes added to our MWF schedule with over 30 registrants signed up this first week. Very exciting to see so many devoted members  here at 6am. We worked with layout of the room and decided we can comfortably place 14 participants in each session to meet current demand. If you didn't have a chance to make it, join your fellow LAB members for a great way to start your day.

Last Sunday, the Cashman's graciously entertained the new Platinum Club Members at their home where guests were served delicious treats and enjoyed a warm summer evening of relaxed conversation with fellow community members, guests, instructors, and staff. July through September is the next qualifying round for LAB5 Platinum Club membership and our second party for qualifiers will be hosted Sunday, October 20th, 2013. So, set your sites on joining the Cashman's as they celebrate the efforts of our tremendous community and please ask us if you have any questions about how to qualify for the next event.

DID YOU KNOW?
The Shocking Cost of Poor Digestion To Our Society

"Each year, there are about 104 million visits to the doctor regarding digestive issues. That's a cost of about $10,816,000,000!" sites Kimberley Snyder in a recent piece reflecting on the enormity of resources required to treat digestive
disorders and issues. From prescriptions to doctors visits, to lost productivity, the numbers add up and are, quite frankly, astounding. From heartburn to constipation, many of these conditions are a direct result of the improper ways we  'nourish' or bodies. Check out these stats and find out how to ease digestive discomfort with a proper diet. Do you know how much do we spend on Nexium and laxatives each year?  Have a number in mind?

Shutting down your children's sugar pushers

Junk food  has become an integral part of our culture with both holidays & celebrations dependent on it for their success. Halloween, Valentines Day and birthday parties just wouldn't be the same without processed sugar. No joy, no fun...a buzz kill.

In a series of ongoing articles including  Why is Everyone Always Giving My Kids Junk Food, Dr Freedhoff explores the attitudes of the defenders who push junk food on kids with a "one treat isn't going to kill them " attitude. He writes "My conservative estimate is that my children, no doubt with the best of intentions, are being offered an average of at least 600 sugar-spiked calories of junk each and every week-junk that we had never intended on giving them in the first place, and in many cases, couldn't decline if we wanted to, since we wouldn't have been present at its offering. Assuming a conservative 70 percent of that junk's calories are coming from sugar, that's 26.25 teaspoons of added sugar a week or more than 14 pounds of the white stuff a year."

Check out Dr. Freedhoff's  article and explore positive ways to address sugar pushing attitudes impacting our children's  health and well-being. See this and links to many great articles Dr. Freedhoff has written to address weight & nutritional issues for young and old alike.
