Across multiple fields and sectors, policymakers, funders, and practitioners working to improve low-income communities are increasingly looking to data analysis to inform community initiatives, investment strategies, and policy choices.  Data-driven approaches - while promising - raise questions and challenges.  There is a sizable gap between our interest in basing decisions on clear "evidence" and our ability to generate it in reliable, accurate, and meaningful ways.  Transforming data into actionable information is often not straightforward, and capacity for analysis and application of data-rich information is uneven both within and across sectors.  This forum brings together experts across multiple disciplines examining current and forward-looking approaches to tackling these issues.

About Carl Anthony, Keynote Speaker at CRC Book Launch

We are pleased to announce that Carl Anthony will deliver the keynote address at the CRC's book launch event for What Counts: Harnessing Data for America's Communities.  Anthony is an architect, planner and author, as well as co-founder, with Dr. Paloma Pavel, of the Breakthrough Communities Project based in Oakland.  Both he and Pavel are members of the CRC's Regional Advisory Committee.  Anthony has a long and distinguished history of leadership and activism focusing on racial, urban and environmental justice.  Among his many accomplishments, Anthony was Director of the Ford Foundation's Sustainable Metropolitan Communities Initiative and the Regional Equity Demonstration program, and founded/headed the Urban Habitat Program in the San Francisco Bay Area.  The CRC is delighted to host this eminent speaker, leader and friend at our upcoming forum.
