New Year Brings Changes To The Chamber
Dear Chamber Members,

Let us be the first to wish you all a Happy New Year! Here at the Chamber we are very excited about 2016. We are looking forward to many changes this year that will add value to your membership.

One of the first changes you will notice is a new newsletter format, starting with this addition. In this months letter you will notice a spotlight story on a chamber business. Each month a chamber business or member will be randomly selected by a numerical drawing. We also hope to have more links to events and stories that are current in our community.

Please remember if you have a community event or a story that you would like to be considered for the newsletter you must summit it for approval by the 15th of the prior month. All inquires can be emailed to jessica@dicksoncountychamber.com.

As always we appreciate you and your membership. We look forward to evolving with you during 2016 and we can't wait to share new ideas and changes with you throughout the year!

Spotlight Story
Powerhouse Gym:
A History of Greatness

In 1996, Scott Hughes decided to open the best fitness facility in Dickson County, and by anyone's standards that is exactly what he accomplished. With his unyielding expectation of excellence, he grew Powerhouse Gym into the premier fitness center of Dickson. Eleven years later, Scott passed the reigns to a young ambitious sales manager by the name of David Tracey in 2007. With a highly successful background in bodybuilding and fitness training, David was just the shot in the arm Powerhouse needed to continue along its path towards greatness. Beloved by the gym members and his staff, David set out over the next eight years to honor Scott's commitment to excellence by updating and remodeling Powerhouse to the highest of standards. As fate would have it, in January of 2015, history would repeat itself as David Tracey would pass the torch to yet another young sales manager by the name of Jason Lawrence. After years of personal training and working in sales with David as his mentor, Jason felt confident that his vision for the future of Powerhouse Gym would not only honor the dedication to greatness of his predecessors, but could usher in the most outstanding era in Powerhouse history.

The Vision: Jason's vision for Powerhouse was to ensure that every member felt as though we were striving everyday to meet their personal fitness needs. By adding small additions such as a freestyle/TRX training zone, a Cross-Training Facility, a Power Rack with a custom built Dead Lift platform, and a newly expanded and remodeled Childcare Facility, he set out to give every member from cross trainers to power lifters what they needed to reach their fitness goals. And while these changes were much needed and appreciated by the members of Powerhouse, Jason felt as though it was not enough. He strongly believed that he and his predecessors before him had done all they could do with the space they had available to them. The only conclusion was that Powerhouse Gym needed to grow.

The Future: By acquiring the unit next door (the former SEARS location), Powerhouse has added 9000 square feet of floor space for expansion. The expansion will take place in three phases over the next two years.

Phase One: 'Powerhouse for HER' will be a 24 hour state of the art Women's Only facility complete with cardio equipment, strength equipment, free weights and more - opened January 4, 2016.

Phase Two: New Cross Training Facility and Power Lifting Room. The new cross training facility will be more than four times larger than the one we currently have with new additions such as turf tracks with sleds, tractor tires, and much much more! The power lifting facility will have everything that power lifters need. Opening January 2017.

Phase Three: There are a few options for Phase Three. As of now, the options are Racquetball Court, Basketball Court, or Cardio Cinema. Jason and the staff at Powerhouse Gym would love your feedback as to which you think would be the best option.

Powerhouse Gym is beyond grateful to have been a part in helping the great people in the Dickson area reach their fitness goals for the last two decades. And with its history of excellence and bold vision for the future Powerhouse Gym looks poised to be a staple of fitness in Dickson County for many decades to come.
