Meet the New Chamber President
|
You may have heard...the Dickson County Chamber of Commerce has a new President/CEO. My name is Joseph A. Graves and I have recently been named the President/CEO of the Dickson County Chamber of Commerce.
I am originally from Carrollton, Kentucky and graduated from Murray State University. I began my career in economic development with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development. With the Cabinet I worked directly with 40 counties in their efforts to develop their respective industrial parks. I then became Executive Director of the Carroll County Community Development Corporation in my home county of Carroll County. While there I secured over $2.5 million dollars in grants for downtown revitalization, rural waterline extensions, new playground equipment and tennis courts. For the past 10 years I have been Director of the Community Development Department for the City of Union, Missouri. While there I was responsible for all industrial, commercial and residential development in a high-growth community.
Over the years I have been actively involved in two Chambers of Commerce, several tourism organizations, Main Street organizations, and elected to the Board of Directors of several regional and state economic development organizations by my peers. Dickson County is a county in transition from a rural community to more of a suburban community to Nashville. These are exciting times. It is my hope to use my almost 20 years of experience to continue the success Dickson County has experienced the past few years. I have many ideas that I will roll out over the next few weeks and months.
Being from the South originally, I've wanted to return for several years. The first time I visited Dickson County I knew I was home. The people here in Dickson County, from the moment I arrived, have been unbelievably friendly and welcoming, making the move much easier. My wife, Teri, and my son, Emerson, will be moving as soon as we're able to find a home here in Dickson County.
In conclusion, I want to stress that as current Chamber members, YOU are as important as new Chamber members. Of course we want to grow our membership, but we WILL NOT forget those businesses and individuals who have invested in the Chamber. This is important to you and important to the Chamber staff.
Once a bit more settled, I will be out and about meeting more Chamber members face to face but please feel free to stop by the office and introduce yourself anytime.
I look forward to working with and for you now and in the future.
Joey
