Several members of the Dickson County Chamber of Commerce, city council members, and company officials were on hand for the ceremony.
Bob Martin and Frank Bayley started Martin & Bayley, Inc. as a corporation in 1960 and opened their first convenience store in March 1974, Huck's Food & Fuel. Today, Martin & Bayley, Inc., with over 1200 associates, has grown to include 115 Huck's Stores in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee, 3 of which are in Tennessee. The newest Huck's Convenience Store opened in Dickson last week.
On March 26, 2001, the stockholders of Martin & Bayley, Inc. sold their stock to an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) and as a result, the employees own 100% of the company.
The Dickson Huck's is over 4000 square feet building and 16 fueling spots, offering both gasoline and diesel. The store has a convenient drive-thru with offerings to include 32 fountain heads of soda with 4 flavor shots, 12 kinds of Bigg Chills, 5 flavors of coffee, 8 flavors of cappuccino, freshly brewed sweet and unsweetened iced tea. Food offerings consist of Godfather's Pizza, Huck's Famous Fried Chicken, Potato Wedges, Popcorn Chicken, Chicken Strips, Popcorn Shrimp, and Grill Zone breakfast and lunch; as well as Double Meat Subbs and Salads made fresh daily.
The store is open for business 24 hours a day. Store manager Bryan Gunter is excited about the welcome they have received from the community and he and his team look forward to serving the needs of the Dickson area in the future.

THANK YOU
FROM THE PAST CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
|
Blessings in life come in many forms. Many times it is several years after you receive a blessing that you realize the magnitude of it. So it was when I moved to Dickson 41 years ago. It is now evident to me what a huge blessing I received. At the age of 8, I never envisioned being involved in so many wonderful community groups in an effort to improve the quality of life in our county. Working closely with the chamber and its members over the last year has been a tremendous blessing for which I am grateful. The past twelve months have taught me a lot about this wonderful place we call home. There are many who are working hard to improve our community and working with those who care so much is a wonderful blessing.
I want to thank the chamber board for allowing me to serve as chairman and for helping make some tough decisions to move our county forward together. I would like to thank the Economic Development Committee that includes Mayor Bob Rial, Mayor Donnie Weiss, Donald Richardson and Judy White-Walters. This group has worked to secure a new president for our organization, and, in a few days, we will be able to reveal his name to the community.
I would also like to thank the chamber staff who has worked tirelessly without a day-to-day leader in the office to fulfill the commitments of the chamber. So a special thank you to Jennie Wagner, Rhonda Adams, Aspen Anderson and Dana Ramsey for working on the different projects that fall under their responsibilities. Although Darrell James has been a temporary helper for the chamber on Economic Development, what a valuable role he played this year. Thank you Darrell for keeping us "in the hunt" on so many opportunities. The great year we have had is a testament to the hard work of these individuals.
Lastly, thank you to my employer and my family for allowing me the time to work with this important group of people called the Dickson County Chamber of Commerce. Dickson County is a better place because of the efforts of this group over the last 90 years. I appreciate being afforded the opportunity - it was truly a blessing.
I look forward to new capable leadership and to supporting their efforts to move us forward even more. I love the quote from President Harry S. Truman, "It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit." May we all continue to work together in Dickson County to accomplish much for our quality of life and future generations!
