As a worldwide leader in the manufacturing and distribution of lighting components, A.L.P. Lighting offers a diverse line of products for OEMs and the aftermarket. Whether it is LED, fluorescent or HID, A.L.P. offers the industry's most comprehensive line of feature-differentiated products, processes and lighting innovations. From its beginnings as a modest Chicago area operation, A.L.P. has grown to become an international powerhouse with manufacturing plants and distribution centers located throughout the U.S., Europe and Latin America. The Dickson, TN plant became part of A.L.P. in 2007, when the company purchased Spectrus, Inc. The primary products manufactured in Dickson are LexaLiteŽ injection molded indoor and outdoor lighting lenses, though the plant also produces a wide variety of other sophisticated lighting components. Manufacturing capabilities include injection molding, metalizing, painting, and assembly. Teamwork is vital to A.L.P. Dickson and there is a focus on creating an energetic workplace, a learning environment and opportunities for advancement. Employee talent is critical to maintaining quality and a competitive advantage, so employment inquiries are always welcome. "A.L.P. Dickson is one of the region's most vibrant workplaces," observes plant manager Mike Burgoyne. "Between the beautiful campus, the fast-paced production activity, and our achievements in areas like Safety, Quality and Lean manufacturing, we are proud of our facility," he states. |
Masonite's facility in Dickson is 198K square feet with approximately 164 employees operating with a two-shift team.
The plant opened in 1991 under the Ceco name and was purchased in 1996 by Masonite. We have been at the same location, One Premdor Dr. in the Industrial Park, for the past 21 years.
In 2007, all steel door production was moved into other Masonite facilities, making space available to consolidate all Masonite fiberglass entry door production into the Dickson plant.

For more than 60 years Shiloh Industries has been serving the automotive market by delivering innovative technologies and customer value. Today, the company's strategy is focused on "lightweighting", or reducing the weight of a vehicle, without compromising performance, safety, sound or efficiency. Weight reduction is directly related to fuel efficiency, thus better for the environment. In fact, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (charged with writing and enforcing federal motor vehicle safety standards) has recently set standards to increase fuel economy levels to an average of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. This trend towards more stringent standards puts more value on the need for "lightweighting without compromise". Shiloh has over 2,000 employees located throughout the United States and Mexico. Headquartered in Valley City, Ohio, Shiloh's expertise is in advanced metal-processing which includes designing, developing and manufacturing products by laser welding, blanking, stamping, laminating, die casting, and machining. Of its 14 facilities, 9 are responsible for Engineered Metals, and 5 for aluminum die casting. Shiloh's Dickson facility, part of the Engineered Metals segment, is located in an industrial park and is responsible for producing complex stampings and modular assemblies for a variety of automotive manufacturers including Nissan and Tier 1 suppliers. The plant houses transfer presses rated up to 2,000 tons and utilizes robotic welding and material handling. The Dickson facility was acquired by Shiloh in 2000, having been originally built by A.G. Simpson in 1994. The 350 employees in the 240,000 square foot building work primarily on seat components and body structures. The facility has seen a 30-percent revenue growth since 2011 and is constantly busy with new product launches. Shiloh Dickson is proud to serve as a corporate citizen contributing to the local community including its support of United Way. Employees are active volunteers in a cross-section of philanthropic activities and generously give their time and other resources. Also, Shiloh believes in supporting the environment. Recently, the plant took the initiative and made a change to its lighting on the shop floor by implementing energy efficient lighting; thus, saving over $75,000 annually in electricity. Corporate wide, the company is always looking for ways to not only reduce the weight of a vehicle, but to minimize the impact of its carbon footprint. Shiloh looks forward to many more years of growth and success globally, and especially in Dickson, Tennessee.

2014 CHAMBER ANNUAL BANQUET
|
|
The Chamber Annual Banquet will be Thursday, June 12 at 6:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Center. $25 per member.
The guest speaker for this year's Annual Banquet is Senator Mark Green.
Dr. Mark Green, Tennessee State Senator for District 22, serves as the Vice-Chair of the Senate Commerce and Insurance Committee as well as a member of the Judiciary and State and Local Government Committees. He is also the Chaplain of the Senate GOP Caucus where he authors a weekly devotion. In his first session in the Tennessee General Assembly "Doc Green" passed legislation to create jobs, assist veterans, and fight horrific crimes like sexual assault and assault on law enforcement. He initiated a Facebook page that allows out-of-work Tennesseans to post their resume's for free, and businesses to post jobs for free. Mark was selected as the Tennessee Journal's Rookie of the year, appointed co-chair of Physician Legislators from 16 states, and was recognized as one of GOPAC's top 21 Emerging Leaders.
In his civilian life, Dr. Green is the president and CEO of Align MD (www.alignmd.com), an emergency department staffing company based in Clarksville, TN, which provides leadership, management and staffing to emergency departments in four southeastern states. Mark also founded Align MD Foundation, which provides healthcare to under-served populations throughout the world.
Mark came to Tennessee as an army special operation flight surgeon assigned to the 160th Special Ops Aviation Regiment. There he planned and flew on some of the war on terror's most covert operations. His most memorable mission was the capture of Saddam Hussein. Dr. Green interviewed Saddam for six hours on the night of his capture and wrote a book detailing the interview and his service with our military's "Jedi Nights," as he calls them. During this time Mark was selected as the Army Aviation Association Flight Surgeon of the year.
Dr. Green's military career began as an infantry officer. From 1987 - 1990 he served as a rifle platoon leader, scout platoon leader and battalion personnel officer in the 194th Separate Armor Brigade, and from 1990 - 1992, as a battalion supply officer and an airborne rifle company commander in the famed 82nd Airborne Division.
In 1986, then Second Lieutenant Green graduated West Point with a degree in economics. In addition to his degree from West Point, Mark has a Masters Certificate from the University of Southern California in Information Systems, and his medical degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
His military awards include the Bronze Star, The Air Medal, The Air Medal with "V" device for valor under heavy enemy fire, and numerous other medals for service. He also was awarded the Combat Medical Badge, the US Army Ranger Tab, The Expert Infantryman's Badge, among many others.
In 1989, Dr. Green met and married the love of his life Camilla Joy Guenther. Camie and Mark have two lovely children, Alexa, age 20, a junior at Austin Peay University, and Mitchell, age 17, a senior at Clarksville High School.
As the CEO and founder of a health care company, Dr. Green understands the challenges facing businesses in these difficult economic times. He has added $4 million in new jobs to our communities and understands how to lead people and organizations toward success. As a physician, he recognizes the need for government to stay out of the patient - physician relationship, and is uniquely prepared to take on the challenges of our state's TennCare program. As a consumer of education, Mark's daughter attends Austin Peay University and his son, Clarksville High School, Dr. Green understands the need to invest in teachers as means of investing in our children. An Army Veteran, with trips to Iraq and Afghanistan, Dr. Green fully comprehends the challenges and needs of our nation's military. He also understands the War on Terror as only one who fought it can. As a social conservative Dr. Green recognizes the need to fight for the rights of the unborn with compassion for the mothers caught in difficult circumstances. Mark's work in Ethiopia, Cambodia and Guatemala through his foundation adds to his international and cultural experience, but more importantly it shows that Dr. Green understands "to whom has been given much, much will be expected."

ANNUAL BANQUET TABLE DECORATING CONTEST - DON'T MISS YOUR CHANCE!
|
The Dickson County Chamber of Commerce is introducing a table decorating contest as exciting entertainment at this year's annual banquet.
All members are welcome and encouraged to attend the Annual Banquet and decorating a table is completely voluntary. Thank you for considering decorating a table for the Annual Banquet on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Renaissance Center.
Please note the following details regarding the responsibilities of decorating a table.
- A black tablecloth, a 72" round table and ten white place settings will be provided.
- Table will be preset and will include a black tablecloth, a 72" round table, 10 white place settings, stemware, napkins and flatware. Decorators are responsible for and will retrieve decorations at the end of the evening.
- Twenty (20) tables available. Deadline to reserve your table is Monday, June 2. Contact Aspen Anderson at aspen@dicksoncountychamber.com or (615) 446-2349.
The Renaissance Center will be open for table decorating at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the event. Decorating must be completed by2:00 p.m. The room will reopen at 6:00 p.m. for arriving guests.
Please plan for one or two people from your company to sit at the table you decorate. This will insure there is no confusion at the end of the evening about what items should remain on the table. It will also give you a chance to discuss your business with your table guests. Don't forget to make your reservations. There is no charge to enter the contest, but you must make reservations and submit your normal banquet fees to attend the event.
We want you to enjoy decorating your table, so there are only a few rules we ask you to abide by:
- This is a formal event, decorations must be appropriate for a formal event.
- Contestants can decorate their table to tell about their business, our community or a theme. Be creative, colorful and have fun with it!
- Keep your decorations low enough to avoid obstructing the view of guests. If you think yours may be too tall, call and request a table in the back of the room.
- This is a creative contest and decorations should showcase your theme and creativity.
- The use of any product that will damage the table or chairs (i.e. glue, staples) is prohibited.
- No glitter or confetti of any size, no exceptions.
BE CREATIVE and HAVE FUN! Table AWARDS will be in the following categories:
Chairman's Award - Best All Round
President's Award - Most Creative
Voting will be conducted via ballot by banquet attendees.
We truly appreciate your help in making the evening special for everyone. If you have any questions or special requests, contact Aspen Anderson at aspen@dicksoncountychamber.comor (615) 446-2349.
