David L Marcum is a senior level upholsterer and began his own business in McEwen after moving from Chattanooga, Tennessee in 2010. His wife Annette is originally from McEwen and serves as a part-time secretary for Olive Grove Upholstery. While in Chattanooga, David worked for Accent Upholstery near the Hamilton Place Mall. His apprenticeship also includes Swenson Upholstery of Hyde Park in Cincinnati, Ohio. After moving to McEwen, David wanted to create a unique shop offering helpful design and top quality aesthetic fabrics. Olive Grove is capable of any custom upholstery project and specializes in furniture, entertainment and commercial seating. David has an extensive background in vintage and antique furniture. He considers himself an "upholstery artisan" by taking a neglected old piece and creating it into a modern day masterpiece. A complimentary wood enhancement and history assessment certainly add to the complete package. Additionally, Olive Grove offers a warranty second to none. Among David's most notable customers are an NFL venue in Nashville and Maggiano's Little Italy of Nashville. You can view some of his work on their Facebook page. Contact David at (931) 582-3577 for a free estimate!

The Drug Free Dickson Coalition is hosting a Drug Take Back event on Saturday, April 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Dickson County Fairgrounds. April 26 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and the goal is to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs.
Contrary to what you might think, flushing medications or simply throwing them in the trash is not a safe or effective way to dispose of unwanted prescriptions. Medicines that are flushed or poured down the drain can end up polluting our waters, impacting aquatic species and contaminating our access to safe drinking water because they cannot be removed by wastewater treatment plants. Returning your unwanted medicines to a take-back program is the safest and most environmentally protective way to dispose of unused medication.

At the Drug Take Back Event in April, any type of medication can be turned in including prescriptions, over-the-counter and vitamins.
The only items that cannot be accepted at the take back are syringes and toxic chemicals.
If you are unable to attend the take back event but would like to properly and safely dispose of unused or expired medication, there are Drug Drop Boxes open 24/7 in the lower level of the Dickson Police Station and at the Sherriff's Department in Charlotte.

Both the Drug Take Back and the Drug Drop Boxes are no-questions-asked and the identity of the person disposing of medications is protected. For more information, contact Anita O'Dell at (615) 686-3128.
