BISHOP LUERS TO OFFER FESTIVAL OF LESSONS AND CAROLS DEC. 18
Bishop Luers High School welcomes the community to the Festival of Lessons and Carols to be offered Sunday, Dec. 18, at 4 p.m. in the new Chapel of Saint Francis of Assisi at the school. The Bishop Luers community and choirs will offer Scripture and music. The readings recount the Fall, the promise of the Messiah, the Incarnation and the Great Commission to preach the Good News. Each lesson is followed by a carol or other song that reflects the lesson's message and a brief prayer.
This event will not include Sunday Mass.
INFORMATION ABOUT UPCOMING CHRISTMAS BREAK

Christmas break is scheduled Dec. 22 through Jan. 2. School resumes Tuesday, Jan. 3, for students. The office will be closed Dec. 22 through Jan. 2.

BARNES & NOBLE HOSTS BOOKFAIR, EXTENDED THROUGH DEC. 24
Due to inclement weather on Dec. 11, Barnes & Noble has extended the Bookfair through Dec. 16, and offered another bookfair valid from Dec. 19-24. This includes in-store and online purchases. Please share this information with family and friends and be sure to download the voucher below.

BISHOP LUERS RECEIVES $50,000 GIFT FROM ANONYMOUS DONOR
Bishop Luers High School is the recipient of a $50,000 gift from an anonymous donor that will be granted to Phase II of the Faith in Our Future Capital Campaign. The donation was announced on Dec. 15.

Bishop Luers High School is engaged in a $4 million capital campaign. Some capital improvements have been made such as the new Chapel of Saint Francis of Assisi and media center. Additional improvements include the completion of core infrastructure including building renovations and the addition of a 4,000 square-foot performing arts assembly hall.

Many have been generous in their donations to the capital campaign, but about $750,000 in pledges is still needed. The community is asked to prayerfully consider a pledge or donation including gifts of stock and company matching gifts programs.

BISHOP RHOADES TO MAKE PASTORAL VISIT AT BISHOP LUERS
Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades will make a pastoral visit to Bishop Luers High School on Jan. 9.
  
He will celebrate an all-school Mass in the gymnasium at 9 a.m., followed by classroom visits, lunch with student council, and meet with teachers and school administration. Parents and friends are welcome to join the Bishop Luers students for the 9 a.m. Mass on Jan. 9. Bishop Rhoades will confirm and celebrate first Communions for several students.
REMINDER: PLEASE RENEW KROGER/SCOTTS AND OWENS CARDS

All Kroger rewards participants MUST re-enroll each January. The program runs Jan. 1 - Dec. 31 of each year.

  • Update or confirm your information.

LOST AND FOUND: WE HAVE JACKETS

The Office of Mission Advancement has jackets that were left at the Christmas Semi-formal Dance and the Mass of Blessing and Dedication of the Altar of the Chapel of Saint Francis of Assisi.

 

The jackets include a man's sports coat, and a black wool winter woman's coat. A lightweight fall/spring jacket was left in the chapel after the blessing.

PRIESTS AND SEMINARIANS COMPETE IN CUPERTINO CLASSIC DEC. 27
Bishop Luers High School will be the host site for the Cupertino Classic on Dec. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the gym. The basketball game pits the priests of the diocese against the seminarians. Admission to the game is free, and the public is invited to attend.
  
Some of the alumni priests and seminarians who will most likely make an appearance -- not necessarily, but most likely -- whether they play or are just there include Father Bill Sullivan ('64), Father Jason Freiburger ('96), Father Jonathan Norton ('00), Father Royce Gregerson ('05) and seminarians Stephen Felicichia ('04), and Mark Hellinger ('14).

Reminder about transcripts due during Winter Break - Remember to request your transcripts by today, Friday, Dec. 16, in order to allow for processing before the break begins.
 
IMPORTANT
Please make sure your student's name is spelled correctly in Power School, including the middle name and punctuation. We will use this information to print the diplomas and covers. If corrections need made, email Michelle North at [email protected]. Diplomas will be ordered in early January and changes cannot be made once the order is placed.

Substitute Teachers

Bishop Luers is seeking substitute teachers. Candidates should possess a teaching license or substitute license issued through the Indiana Department of Education. Applicants can complete the substitute teacher application available on the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend website under the Catholic Schools Office link. Custodians

Bishop Luers is seeking a full-time and part-time custodian. Interested applicants will be asked to complete a background check and provide references. Qualified applicants will have an eye for detailed cleaning. Duties include sweeping/mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, restroom cleaning, dusting/scrubbing, and cleaning windows. We are seeking an individual who is energetic, can take initiative in getting things done and will support the mission and vision of our Catholic school with our students. Bishop Luers: Math/Special Education Teacher
 
Bishop Luers is seeking a resource teacher licensed in special education and math. This position is for six hours per day. We are seeking an individual who is dedicated to helping all students grow in their faith, academics, and social skills.
