The event supports Bishop Luers High School athletics and performing arts. Music will be provided by Actual Size. This event is for adults 21 and older.

Turkey Trot is mentioned by many as one of their favorite Bishop Luers adult events. It is one of the events that separates Bishop Luers from most other schools. Many acknowledge that "raising money" for performing arts and athletics is an important byproduct of the event ... but what else the night provides is even more important. It is a social gathering that allows Bishop Luers staff, alumni, former and current parents, and future Knights to come together and experience another form of what constitutes Luers Spirit. It is a great kickoff to the Thanksgiving holiday and Christmas season. Fundraising is an important part of the night ... but it is not the sole focus.

With the help of our Gold ($1,000-plus), Silver ($500), Bronze ($100) and Trotter ($25) Sponsors and the 175 attendees who "rocked" the party, we raised almost $7,000 last year. Please contact the Athletic Office or a performing arts parent to purchase tickets and consider one of our many sponsor levels. Don't be left out ... make the decision to help support Bishop Luers athletics and performing arts and let's pack Columbia Street West for a Holiday Kick-Off Party.

BISHOP LUERS TO PRESENT 'FOOTLOOSE'

BISHOP LUERS' FAMILIES NEEDED TO HOST 23 JAPANESE STUDENTS
Twenty-three Bishop Luers families are needed to host a student from Fushiki High School  for five nights from March 10-15, 2017. Bishop Luers High School's relationship with this Takaoka, Japan, area school has entered its third decade. Bishop Luers is one of only four Fort Wayne schools to have a student exchange program with a sister high school in Japan.

As a part of this cultural exchange sponsored by Fort Wayne Sister Cities International, Bishop Luers students and teachers have traveled to Japan in the past 30 years. Bishop Luers students will spend two weeks in Japan in July of 2018. A group of the Fushiki High School students and their teacher-chaperones visit BLHS every other year.

During the time, guests stay with Bishop Luers families. The visitors spend time with their host families and attend classes at Luers during the day. The students are excited to experience life as a typical teenager, so they love going to sports practices, games, shopping or attending the Luers Show Choir Invitational. There will be planned group activities such as a bowling party, a bonfire, a meeting with Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry during the school day, and a Bishop Luers all-school assembly.

No cost is involved for the host families, other than providing food and lodging for the five days. Families interested will be provided with a complete itinerary, contact information of all Bishop Luers' host families and a parent orientation meeting, which will feature Bishop Luers' parents and students who have hosted in the past.

If you would like to host one of the 23 students (16 girls and seven boys) or would like additional information, please call or email Karen Marciano at 260-456-1261, Ext. 3155, kmarciano@bishopluers.org or stop by Room 155 to sign  up.

FROM GUIDANCE ... COLLEGE REPRESENTATIVES VISITING BISHOP LUERS
  1. College admissions representatives will be visiting Bishop Luers throughout the fall. These small group settings allow juniors and seniors to learn what the college has to offer both in and out of the classroom. These representatives are a great resource for students, and provide valuable information about the entire admissions process. In addition, these sessions are an economical way to determine the colleges they wish to visit in person.

A full schedule of visits is on Naviance.com. This site is also where students sign up to attend visits and request a Guidance pass. Visits are held in Room 144. Encourage your student to take advantage of these opportunities.
