Homecoming Spirit Week is next week and the Spirit Week theme is "Knights In Disney"!!
Students are allowed to dress up each day following the theme of the day or they may wear the homecoming shirt. Daily themes:
Tuesday, Sept. 13: "Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum" -- Twin Day
Wednesday, Sept 14: "Monsters University" -- College Wear
Thursday, Sept. 15: "Circle of Life" -- Old or Young
Friday, Sept 16: "Go Knights" -- Luers Spirit
Spirit Week Dress GUIDELINES
- Your dress must follow the theme of the day
- No tank tops or spaghetti straps
- No tight pants, leggings or jeans
- No short shorts or short skirts (must be to the knee). Basketball shorts are permitted.
- No slippers or flip flops
Please make sure you're dressing appropriately. If you choose not to dress with the theme of the day or wear the Homecoming shirt, you must wear your school uniform.
Any non-cooperation with the rules and guidelines, you will forfeit your right to participate and will be in regular school uniform for the remainder of the week.
Homecoming activities:
Hallway decorating will be after school on Friday, Sept. 9, from 3 - 5 p.m. Hallway decorations will be torn down next Friday, Sept. 16, after school. All students are encouraged to help with both.
Homecoming Court nominations will take place next week. The court will be presented during half-time at the football game on Friday, Sept. 18.
Cheerleaders sell carnations
The cheerleaders are selling carnations for $1. Please see a cheerleader or email Coach Smith at dsmith@bishopluers.org to purchase flowers and wish your child a happy Homecoming.

| JOIN US! HOMECOMING EVENTS, CORN HOLE TOURNAMENT ON SEPT. 16 |

The Bishop Luers Homecoming will be Friday, Sept. 16. Festivities connected to Homecoming include Mass at 4:30 p.m. in the gymnasium. Father Ben Muhlenkamp will celebrate the Mass. The Distinguished Knight Awards will be presented after Mass. A tailgate dinner will be held in the tent near the friary at 5:30 p.m. The game against Northside will be at 7 p.m. Alumni and friends are invited to the Nine Mile Restaurant, 13398 U.S. 27 from 8 p.m. to midnight. Live entertainment will be provided by 4 Clicks North, a band that includes Tom Saul and Evan Stuerzenberger of the Class of 2010.
 Also this year will be the Corn Hole Tournament at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $20 per two person team, $10 per single to-be-paired player. HONORS AWARDS CEREMONY -- Friday, Sept. 9, 9:30 a.m. Bishop Luers High School Gymnasium
On Friday, Sept. 9, we will be recognizing current sophomore, junior and senior students for their achievements and service activities during the 2015-16 school year at our Honors Awards Program. All are cordially invited to gather with the entire student body in the gymnasium at 9:30 a.m. to honor our students. The program is scheduled to last about an hour.
We are blessed with a wonderful group of students. On this day we will recognize each one who has earned merit in the following areas during the 2015-16 school year:

SET APPOINTMENT WITH LIFETOUCH FOR SENIOR PORTRAITS

LifeTouch continues to offer photography service for senior portraits at their studio through the end of November. Parents need to make an appointment with LifeTouch for their senior student's photos to be taken before the end of November. Call the studio at 260-490-1600. The studio is located at 3916 Option Pass in Fort Wayne (46818). Seniors must have their photograph taken at LifeTouch to be in the yearbook. Appointments are booking quickly, so set a time soon.

Parents and grandparents of Bishop Luers High School juniors are invited to a Mass and Mingle at the all-school Mass on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 9:30 a.m. Parents and grandparents will be seated with their students. Enter through the gymnasium lobby. Following Mass, coffee and muffins will be served to our guests.

GUIDANCE: STUDY TABLES AND HOMEWORK HELP RESOURCES

Free Tutoring Opportunities - at Bishop Luers and beyond!
1. Study Tables are available daily before and after school at Bishop Luers High School
- Before School: 7-7:45 a.m. in Room 262 - Tuesday through Friday
- After School: 2:45-3:30 p.m. in Room 230 - Monday through Thursday
Teachers are also available to meet with students before and after school by appointment.
2. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's Homework Hotline provides toll-free math and science homework help to Indiana students in grades 6-12. Tutors are available Sunday through Thursday from 7-10 p.m. Call toll free at 1-877-ASK-ROSE.
3. EOC (Educational Opportunity Center), located at 3000 S. Wayne Ave. offers free after school tutoring for students in second through 12th grades. For high school students, available hours are Monday through Thursday from 3-5 p.m. Their staff members hold bachelor's/masters' degrees and services range from homework help to SAT/ACT and college prep. Information about SAT Preparation
- At Bishop Luers. Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 21 and 22, from 6-8:30 p.m. (students attend both sessions.) This course is designed to improve scores by providing test-taking strategies, subject review and practice tests for each section of the test. Writing practice is also provided. Students will receive a comprehensive study guide and several practice tests. Cost is $89.99. Payment and registration at www.doorwaytocollege.com, or call 877-927-8378 for assistance.
- Online. Students who are unable to make the above dates may consider taking a similar seminar presented online by a live instructor in a webinar format. Cost is $129.99. Available dates and more information are available at www.doorwaytocollege.com/list-of-webinars.
- At Bishop Dwenger. Bishop Dwenger offers SAT/ACT Classes twice a year, fall and spring. The class will address all areas of the SAT/ACT, and is open to any high school student in the Fort Wayne/Allen County area. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. The 14 sessions include the diagnostic testing, six verbal and six math sessions. The class fee is $225 and includes the text for the course. - At www.collegeboard.org. This is the testing agency that administers the SAT and has a wealth of SAT information and help. Set up your account to request practice tests and have a daily practice question emailed to you!

| UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME TO HOLD INFORMATION SESSIONS |
The University of Notre Dame will offer two information sessions at Bishop Luers High School.
An information night will be offered on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. Families are invited to join this ND on the Road information session. The session will included information on the academic, community and spiritual life at the University of Notre Dame, as well as insights into the admissions and financial aid processes. College admissions representatives will be visiting Bishop Luers throughout the fall. These small group settings allow juniors and seniors to learn what the college has to offer both in and out of the classroom. These representatives are a great resource for students, and provide valuable information about the entire admissions process. In addition, these sessions are an economical way to determine the colleges they wish to visit in person.

2016 BISHOP LUERS MEN'S KNIGHT 'SMOKER' PARTY SET OCT. 1

The 2016 Bishop Luers Men's Knight "Smoker" Party will be Saturday, Oct. 1, from 7 p.m. to midnight, under the tent at Bishop Luers High School. Mass will be celebrated at Bishop Luers at 5:45 p.m. Tickets are available by pre-sale at all home football games, as well as at the door that night or by contacting the Bishop Luers Athletic Office. Time will be dedicated at this party to honor longtime current Coach Lew Goodwin and several press box, scorer's table and chain gang volunteers. This longtime annual fundraiser is a great night of food, fellowship, fun and football. There will be raffle prizes -- big screen TV -- and the Notre Dame vs. Syracuse game on the giant screen. Funds go to Bishop Luers Athletics. Please consider purchasing a ticket and inviting others. The Bishop Luers Performing Arts is selling beautiful fall mums from Vanroot Growers. The funds generated will be used for the 2016-2107 performance season. Assist the choirs and band by turning in the order form to the Bishop Luers office or to any Minstrel, Reigning Knight, band or tech member.

Bishop Luers High School is seeking a part-time business office assistant.
Duties will include assisting the business office with filing and paperwork, including free and reduced lunch applications, bus transportation, helping with processing of payables and receivables, answering phones and general office duties. This position is part-time, temporary. After 90 days, there is the potential that it may become permanent.
