    EXCITING LIBRARY NEWS!
THANK YOU TO JAMES PATTERSON AND
    SCHOLASTIC READING CLUB!!
Exciting News! Our school received a $6,000 grant from James Patterson and Scholastic Reading Club to help our school library.  We want to thank #PattersonPledge for getting books in the hands of our students.  Patterson joined forces with Scholastic Reading Club to offer grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 to school libraries across the country.

Laura Sturm, Bishop Luers Librarian, said upon receipt of the grant, "I have known since July that we were in the final round.  I am humbled to know that we were among the 467 schools chosen out of nearly 28,000 applicants!  I was especially touched to know that mega-author James Patterson himself read the finalists' applications and chose the winners."

Mrs. Sturm added, "I have started a Teen Advisory Board (TAB) that has approximately 30 members.  The students and I have identified two areas of priority.  The first half of the funds will be used for the purchase of new books and audio-books.  These same students are busy researching to recommend titles and authors. It has been rewarding to watch their enthusiasm and learning. The second half of the money will be used to purchase four quality laptops for use in the library.  It is typical for students to come to the library to work or to study, but there are no computers available to use.  This will help us start to increase our technology stations for our new Library Media Center. "

From all of us at Bishop Luers High School, thank you James Patterson and Scholastic for this great honor!

This would be a quick and easy way to raise money for the new chapel.
