CHANGE AHEAD: New Traffic Shift on Tennyson Parkway at DNT Starts Today
The fourth lane of the Dallas North Tollway needs room to grow, and to accommodate that growth, the Tennyson Parkway bridge will be demolished and rebuilt. To facilitate the demolition, traffic will be shifted to the southern half of the bridge today. The bridge will be restriped to assist motorists.
After the scheduled work today, all traffic will be shifted to the south side of the Tennyson Parkway bridge for the first phase of the bridge demolition and reconstruction. After the traffic shift, signal lights will be retimed in order to minimize impacts to traffic. The bridge demolition is scheduled to take place this spring.
Overall, the entire Dallas North Tollway Improvement Projects include adding a fourth lane of traffic along the Tollway northbound from Trinity Mills Road to the Sam Rayburn Tollway and southbound from the Sam Rayburn Tollway to the Belt Line Road exit. Other improvements include restriping, pavement surface overlay and the relocation of existing light poles from the center median barrier to the outside shoulders. All of this construction is funded solely by toll revenue.
