Newly raised: Columns under construction on DNT in Plano

Dallas North Tollway drivers are now seeing bridge columns and caps being built from Park Boulevard to Windhaven Parkway in Plano. These columns will support the addition of a fourth lane being added both directions along the DNT.

Crews will continue to work on bridge elements that support the additional lanes through the end of the year. Visit ProgressNTTA.org for information on traffic shifts and scheduled lane or ramp closures.

The DNT Improvement Projects include the reconfiguration of the existing direct-connector ramps on the north side of the DNT/President George Bush Turnpike interchange. This reconfiguration will add a lane and include improvements to the Park Boulevard exit from PGBT. Access between Parker Road and Windhaven Parkway will be improved by modifying the ramp locations and adding new entrance ramps north of Windhaven Parkway.

Construction on these sections of the DNT Improvement Projects is scheduled for completion in early 2018. To learn more about the project, click here.
President George Bush Turnpike fourth lane gets first "coat" right before winter

Before winter arrives, the fourth lane of PGBT has to get its first coat, and by coat we mean asphalt, which is an important milestone.

The asphalt foundation between the Dallas North Tollway and Coit Road is placed, and crews are now placing rebar, or reinforcing steel, in preparation for the final top layer, concrete. The asphalt now creates a visible indication of where the fourth lane will be along PGBT.

Construction in the area began earlier this summer and will continue until autumn of 2016 between DNT and U.S. 75/Renner Road. To learn more about the project, visit us at ProgressNTTA.org

Trucks are entering and exiting

On the PGBT between the DNT and U.S. 75, construction is ongoing between the main lanes. For crews to have access to the workspace, the inside shoulders are narrowed using barriers. These barriers, made of cones, barrels or concrete, are in place to create a safe construction zone to keep traffic moving. Occasionally, crews may close a left lane to provide construction truck access. Because of this, we ask that drivers watch for signs alerting them to closures ahead and reduced speeds.
Hey slow down! We want to keep you safe

The speed limit on the DNT is now 60 mph between the PGBT and SRT. The lowered, enforced speed limit is in place to ensure safety for both drivers and workers for the duration of construction work. Work zone signage is also placed along the main lanes. As a reminder, work is occurring day and night on projects. Please stay alert, watch the speed limit and reach your destination safely.

Also keep in mind that the construction of the additional lanes on the DNT requires some long-term closures of frontage road lanes. With the left lane closed periodically along the frontage road, the exit ramps may extend into the middle lane of traffic. Be patient, alert and slow down when exiting the Tollway.
