Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road extends from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. Initial construction on the CTP began in April 2010, and the road opened to traffic on May 11, 2014.

Adjacent to the CTP, the Texas Department of Transportation has constructed local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard). $117 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds were used to pay for what is referred to as Section 3A.

Some construction continues on CTP and TxDOT's Section 3A. Project updates will continue to be provided in this newsletter.

Interstate 30 closes overnight Oct. 10

Traffic will be closed on both directions of Interstate 30 in downtown Fort Worth overnight on Friday, Oct. 10. The closure is needed so construction crews can pour the bridge decks for the westbound I-30 to southbound CTP connector. Closure details and suggested detours are listed below (click here for map):

Closure: All lanes of east- and westbound I-30 from Summit Avenue to University Drive will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, through 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.

Eastbound detour: Motorists will take the Summit Avenue/Cherry Street/Lancaster Avenue/8th Avenue exit and continue on the ramp toward Cherry Street/Lancaster Avenue. Police will direct traffic back onto eastbound I-30 via the CTP to I-30 entrance ramp near Summit Avenue.

Westbound detour: Motorists will be directed to exit at Summit Avenue and then continue on the westbound I-30 frontage road. Motorists will be able to reenter I-30 after Forest Park Boulevard.

All closures are subject to weather conditions and will be postponed, if necessary.

For more information about upcoming lane closures and traffic-related news along NTTA roadways, go to the "Scheduled Lane Closures" link at www.ntta.org or call (817) 207-0814.

Two new ramps opened to traffic on CTP

As construction on the CTP nears completion, two new ramps connecting Arborlawn Drive and the CTP have opened to traffic. The northbound exit ramp to Arborlawn Drive opened to traffic on Sept. 27. The southbound entrance ramp opened to traffic Oct. 4.

Crews continue to work on the two remaining direct-connector ramps; an I-20 direct connector and the westbound I-30 to southbound CTP direct connector in downtown Fort Worth.
TxDOT's NTE open; Special promotion for new TollTag customers

TEXpress Lanes continue to expand throughout North Texas with the North Tarrant Express already opened this month. The 13.3-mile corridor includes tolled TEXpress Lanes, upgraded general highway lanes and expanded frontage roads. The NTE TEXpress Lanes are owned and operated by the Texas Department of Transportation. NTTA will serve only as the toll collector for this roadway.

NTE is offering a special promotion to encourage new customers to open TollTag accounts. The NTE Public Information Office will offer a $5 toll credit with the opening of a new standard TollTag account. The promotion runs through Nov. 15 and is available only at the NTE Public Information Office, 8713 Airport Freeway in North Richland Hills. The account must be opened with a $40 prepaid credit or debit card deposit.

The NTE TEXpress Lanes opened with a fixed schedule of variable rates based on peak/off-peak times for the first six months. Rates will be higher during peak travel times (6:30-9 a.m. and 3-6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday). Lower rates will apply on weekday off-peak hours and on weekends.

Drivers can check toll rates before deciding to use the NTE TEXpress Lanes. In addition to road signs, a fixed pricing chart is available each week on www.NTEtexpress.com for the first six months. The pricing chart will be updated each Sunday for the following week.

TollTag drivers receive a lower toll rate and have the convenience of hassle-free payment, but so do motorcyclists and carpoolers. Drivers with at least two people in their vehicles (including the driver) and motorcyclists who use the NTE TEXpress Lanes during peak hours can qualify for a 50 percent discount via the Drive On TEXpress mobile app or website prior to entering TEXpress Lanes.

For more information about using your TollTag on TEXpress Lanes, visit www.NTTA.org.
