Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in spring 2014.

Chisholm Trail Parkway to provide quick access to fun destinations
When the Chisholm Trail Parkway opens this spring, motorists will have faster access to not only Cleburne and Fort Worth but also to nearby communities, including Burleson and Joshua.
These Johnson County towns boast excellent school districts and bill their respective towns as great places to live, while still being close to the amenities of Fort Worth. Like many family-oriented communities, Burleson and Joshua tout a variety of hometown activities that are worthy for visitors to check out.
Burleson's most notable activities include a summer concert series in Old Town, a Founders Day celebration and a Cinco de Mayo party. In Joshua, visitors might attend the Annual Golf Tournament at Mountain Valley Country Club, the Fall Festival or the Fourth of July Celebration at Joshua Owl Stadium.
The new 28-mile Chisholm Trail Parkway goes both ways of course and will provide easy access for residents of Joshua and Burleson to travel to Tarrant County and visit its many attractions as well. |
