Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in spring 2014.

New Oakmont Boulevard bridge partially opens

Motorists on Oakmont Boulevard in south Fort Worth are now using a newly opened bridge over the future Chisholm Trail Parkway. The westbound side of the Oakmont Boulevard bridge opened April 7. Motorists will use a single lane in each direction until crews complete the eastbound side of the bridge.

More room at the eastbound I-30 Summit Avenue exit

Crews will soon complete construction of retaining walls at the eastbound Interstate 30 exit to Summit Avenue, providing motorists with additional space coming off the ramp and at the intersection. These additional lanes should open by the end of April and should ease congestion at the intersection. Once this work is complete, crews will close the eastbound I-30 exit ramp to Forest Park Boulevard permanently, and motorists will then be directed to use the Rosedale Street exit to access Forest Park Boulevard.

Forest Park Boulevard closures

Road Work Ahead SignForest Park Boulevard will be closed between I-30 and the newly constructed eastbound frontage road nightly and on weekends between April 15 and May 1. Nightly closures are scheduled from
9 p.m. to 6 a.m., and weekend closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. This will allow crews to set beams directly over Forest Park Boulevard.

Detours:

*Westbound I-30 to southbound Forest Park Boulevard: Take the south University Drive exit, travel east on Rosedale Street to Forest Park Boulevard.

*Eastbound I-30 to northbound Forest Park Boulevard: Take Rosedale Street and turn north on Summit Avenue to the westbound frontage road, then take I-30 westbound and exit at north Forest Park Boulevard.

*Northbound Forest Park Boulevard to continue north: Take I-30 eastbound frontage road and turn north onto Summit Avenue to I-30 westbound frontage road.

*Northbound Forest Park Boulevard to westbound I-30: Take eastbound I-30 frontage road and turn north onto Summit Avenue to the I-30 westbound frontage road.

*Southbound Forest Park Boulevard to continue south: Take Parkview Drive to westbound I-30, exit south on University Drive then east on Rosedale Street to Forest Park Boulevard.

*Southbound Forest Park Boulevard to eastbound I-30: Take Parkview Drive to westbound I-30, exit south on University Drive to the I-30 eastbound frontage road.

Westbound I-20 exit ramp to Bryant Irvin Road to close temporarily

Traffic AlertThe westbound I-20 exit ramp to Bryant Irvin Road in south Fort Worth will need to be closed for up to one week in the near future to allow construction of a CTP bridge over the Bryant Irvin Road exit ramp. Exact closure details and detour information will be included in an upcoming issue of CTP Update.

Intermittent closures on SH 171 in Johnson County April 14

BarrierState Highway 171 near the future CTP will be closed for 20-30 minute intervals on April 14 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Traffic will be stopped as crews set beams directly over the highway between County Road 1125 and Windmill Road.
