Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in spring 2014.

Cherry Street/Lancaster Avenue exit ramp from eastbound I-30 closed nightly

BarrierActivity near the Chisholm Trail Parkway/Interstate 30 interchange is ramping up. As work progresses on this portion of the project, the Cherry Street/Lancaster Avenue exit from eastbound I-30 will be closed to traffic as crews begin the removal of high-mast lighting near the ramp. The nighttime only closure will be in place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, through the morning of Saturday, Feb. 2.

During the closures, motorists wishing to access Cherry Street will exit Summit Avenue, proceed through the intersection to Henderson Street, travel north on Henderson Street, turn right on Texas Street and travel approximately three blocks to Cherry Street.

Motorists wishing to access Lancaster Avenue will exit Summit Avenue, proceed through the intersection to Henderson Street and travel north on Henderson Street to Lancaster Avenue.

Once the lighting is removed, the Cherry Street exit ramp will be reduced to one lane through summer 2013.

Bridge construction progressing

Crews working near the Hulen Street bridge placed concrete for the last span of the northbound main lanes over the Union Pacific Railroad Davidson Yard last week. There are only two spans remaining on the southbound bridge.

Bridge work also is ongoing in south Fort Worth. Abutment construction on the Oakmont Boulevard bridge begins this week and is expected to continue through early February. Abutments are support structures placed at the end of a bridge. Crews also are backfilling behind abutments at McPherson Boulevard, Summer Creek and Risinger Road.

In addition, construction of bent caps (the top of columns)for the bridge over Fort Worth and Western Railroad continues.
