Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in spring 2014.

Road Work Ahead SignConstruction updates

TxDOT crews continue demolition of SH 183 over Bryant Irvin Road

As part of Chisholm Trail Parkway construction, the Texas Department of Transportation crews are scheduled to complete the remaining bridge demolition of the State Highway 183 overpass at Bryant Irvin Road from 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, through 5 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9. During the demolition, all traffic on Bryant Irvin Road at SH 183 will be detoured. Motorists should expect delays.

* Northbound Bryant Irvin Road traffic will take the eastbound I-20 frontage road to Hulen Street, turn left and then travel down the westbound SH 183/Southwest Boulevard frontage road to Bryant Irvin Road.

* Southbound Bryant Irvin Road traffic will take the westbound SH 183/Southwest Boulevard frontage road, turn left on Crosslands Road and then travel down the eastbound SH 183/Southwest Boulveard frontage road and turn right on Bryant Irvin Road.

Access to local businesses will be maintained, and police officers will be present to direct traffic along the detour routes.

The existing SH 183 main lanes will not be affected by the demolition. One lane in each direction will remain open over Bryant Irvin Road. Following this demolition, crews will build the new permanent eastbound SH 183 bridge over Bryant Irvin Road in the next four to five months.

Work on CTP bridges near SH 183 also necessitates overnight closures

Crews working in south Fort Worth will begin setting beams for the north- and southbound CTP bridge at SH 183 this week. In order to perform this work, the following overnight closures will be in place:

* Closure: The east- and westbound SH 183 main lanes between Bryant Irvin Road and Hulen Street will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, through 5 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, and again from 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, through 5 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12.

* Detours: Westbound motorists will exit prior to the SH 183 exit from I-20 at Hulen Street, continue on the westbound SH 183 frontage road and cross Bryant Irvin Road to the SH 183 entrance ramp. Eastbound motorists will exit Crosslands Road, turn right on Bryant Irvin Road to the eastbound I-20 frontage road, turn left on the eastbound I-20 frontage road and cross Hulen Street to the I-20 entrance ramp.

Local law enforcement will be on duty to help direct traffic.

Weekend closures of eastbound Vickery

Eastbound Vickery Boulevard between Rosedale and Smiley streets will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, through 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, so that crews can install a storm sewer line. Eastbound motorists will have two detour options:

* North on Montgomery Street, east to the I-30 frontage road, south on University Drive and then back to Vickery Boulevard

* North on Smiley Street, east to the I-30 frontage road, south on University Drive and then back to Vickery Boulevard

All closures are subject to weather conditions and will be postponed, if necessary.
