Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in spring 2014.

New frontage road set to open soon

One of the first bridges near Interstate 30 and Summit Avenue is set to open in January. The eastbound I-30 frontage road will connect Forest Park Boulevard to Summit Avenue and will serve as the new entrance ramp from Forest Park Boulevard to eastbound I-30. Located just south of I-30, the bridge crosses over the Fort Worth and Western Railroad.

When the bridge opens, drivers may access eastbound I-30 from Forest Park Boulevard by entering the new frontage road, traveling east through the Summit Avenue intersection and entering I-30 at the existing entrance ramp east of Summit Avenue.

Road Work Ahead SignConstruction updates

Other construction work continues along I-30, including the removal of a billboard near I-30 and 15th Street. Additional crews are concentrating on wall construction near the Trinity Trails and preparing for additional bridge beam placement, scheduled to begin after the first of the year.

Farther south, crews continue bridge deck panel placement just south of Overton Ridge Boulevard. In addition, paving work between Old Granbury Road and McPherson Boulevard will resume after the new year begins. Bridge column construction near FM 1187 and bent cap work at Risinger Road Road also will continue after the first of the year.

Weekend closures of eastbound Vickery

Eastbound Vickery Boulevard between Rosedale and Smiley streets will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, through 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7. During the closure, crews will install a storm sewer line. Eastbound motorists will have two detour options:

* North on Montgomery Street, east to the I-30 frontage road, south on University Drive and then back to Vickery Boulevard

* North on Smiley Street, east to the I-30 frontage road, south on University Drive and then back to Vickery Boulevard

All closures are subject to weather conditions and will be postponed, if necessary.
