The President George Bush Turnpike Western Extension, formerly known as State Highway 161, provides a new, approximately 11.5-mile link in the growing loop around Dallas. The corridor consists of the tolled PGBT Western Extension main lanes and the SH 161 frontage roads from SH 183 to I-20. ________________________________________________________________ |

Construction Update
On Thursday, Dec. 20, the North Texas Tollway Authority opened the final direct-connector ramp linking Interstate 30 to the Western Extension of the President George Bush Turnpike.
The westbound I-30 ramp to northbound Western Extension is the last of eight direct-connector ramps at the interchange to be completed. All of the direct connectors at I-20 are already open to traffic.
Construction will continue as crews work to complete outstanding construction tasks including the State Highway 161 frontage road at the Union Pacific Railroad crossings in Grand Prairie, which is scheduled to open in the near future.
Toll rates for the PGBT Western Extension are posted at NTTA.org.
