Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in spring 2014.

Traffic AlertTraffic switched to new SH 183 main lanes

Last week, Texas Department of Transportation crews switched westbound State Highway 183 traffic to the newly constructed main lanes in south Fort Worth. As part of the traffic switch, the new exit ramp to Bryant Irvin Road from the new SH 183 westbound main lanes was opened, and the Insurance Lane exit ramp from westbound I-20/SH 183 was closed permanently.

In addition, crews also began the process of rebuilding the westbound SH 183 frontage road between International Plaza and Insurance Lane, resulting in traffic on the frontage road to be switched to a one-lane detour between the two roadways.

Insurance Lane north of the westbound SH 183 frontage road is closed temporarily while it is reconstructed. Motorists will need to use International Plaza Drive during the Insurance Lane closure.

Eastbound SH 183 traffic is scheduled to be switched to a new one-lane configuration on Dec. 17. This switch will temporarily close the entrance ramp from Bryant Irvin Road to eastbound SH 183 while crews complete the new permanent entrance.

Road Work Ahead SignFrontage road closure near Kohl's

As work continues on the direct-connector bridges near the CTP/Interstate 20/SH 183 interchange, crews closed the eastbound SH 183 frontage road and the westbound I-20 frontage road just east of the second entrance to Kohl's in south Fort Worth. This closure is expected to last through Dec. 17.

BarrierPeriodic closures of the Trinity Trails begin this week

Users of the Trinity Trails should expect intermittent closures on the south side of the river, just east of Bryant Irvin Road beginning Monday, Dec. 10. A flagger will be available to direct users of the trails around the construction activities. This work is expected to last through February 2013.
