Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in spring 2014.

Safety first on Halloween

halloweenAs crews continue demolition work on the old Hulen Street bridge, overnight closures along Vickery Boulevard are in place requiring a detour through the South Sunset Heights neighborhood. To increase safety for trick or treaters, traffic will not be detoured through the neighborhood during the evening of Halloween.

Construction update

Road Work Ahead SignChisholm Trail Parkway construction activity near Interstate 30 between University Drive and Rogers Road in Fort Worth continues at a fast pace. The eastbound I-30 exit ramp to Forest Park Boulevard has been permanently reduced to one lane at the Forest Park Boulevard intersection for storm drain construction. With the closure, traffic will still be able to turn right, left or continue through the intersection. In addition, excavation work continues on the north- and southbound main lanes of the CTP just west of Forest Park Boulevard.

Crews working near the Rosedale-Lovell bridge in Fort Worth have started pouring bent caps that go on top of bridge columns for the CTP bridge over University Drive. Work also is progressing on the CTP main lanes over the Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard as crews continue placing bridge decks for the northbound main lanes, as well as pouring concrete decks for the Tribituary Creek bridge. A large portion of the old Hulen Street bridge over the Davidson Yard and the bridge decks over Vickery Boulevard have been removed as demolition work continues.

In south Fort Worth, bent caps for the eastbound Oakmont Boulevard bridge have been poured, and focus has shifted to the westbound bent caps. Excavation work near Stewart Feltz Road and concrete placement for the Sycamore School Road bridge also are complete.

Getting to Know "Us"

Ever wonder who are the folks building the Chisholm Trail Parkway? The short answer: Texans are.

The North Texas Tollway Authority is a political subdivision of the state of Texas and is authorized to acquire, construct, maintain, repair and operate turnpike projects in the north Texas region.

The NTTA's nine-member governing board is comprised of individuals appointed by the commissioners courts from Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties. Each county appoints two board members. The ninth member is appointed by the governor.

Former Fort Worth Mayor Kenneth Barr serves as chairman of the NTTA Board of Directors.

The NTTA operates the Dallas North Tollway, President George Bush Turnpike, Sam Rayburn Tollway, Addison Airport Toll Tunnel, Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge and the Mountain Creek Lake Bridge. We are currently completing the western extension of the Bush Turnpike in Grand Prairie, and the CTP from near downtown Fort Worth to Cleburne is currently under construction.

NTTA toll projects are not a part of the state highway system and receive no direct tax funding. The NTTA raises capital for construction projects through the issuance of turnpike revenue bonds. Tolls are collected to repay debt and to operate and maintain the roadways.
