Easy tips for anyone to follow that will change your life!...

If you are heavier on the bottom:

~ A basic rule of thumb is to keep tops layered or decorated and bottoms skimming, relaxed and perhaps darker. It's all about balance.

~ Bright colors or patterns on top, or even statement necklaces or earrings, draw the eyes up and attention away from your bottom half

~ Opt for straight or boot cut pants in darker colors/washes for the most slimming effect

~ Empire waist tops and dresses are perfect for accentuating the smallest part of your waist and elongating the lower half of the body

~ Always opt for mid rise jeans for full back and tummy coverage and to eliminate "muffin top"

If you are heavier on top:

~ Lower or open necklines elongate, and tops with vertical pleats also help train the eye to look up and down (avoid ruffles as they can add volume to the bust area)

~ Wear prints on the bottom

~ Choose bottoms that balance out your top half, like a-line skirts or slightly flared/boot cut pants.

~ If your upper arms are wider choose loose straight sleeves to elongate your arm

To achieve an hourglass shape:

~ Wear boat and square neck tops give the illusion of broader shoulders. The broader your shoulders appear, the more in line they may look with your hips, leaving your waist indented to create that hourglass shape.

~ Belted jackets and structured jackets also even out proportions

~ It also helps to keep hem lines longer to create this effect, at least knee length for skirts and 3/4'' from the floor for pants

~ Wrap tops and dresses and shirts with side ruching or diagonal prints or layers are great for hiding the tummy while accenting the waist.

To appear taller and slimmer:

~ There are several great tips for you if you would like to appear taller and slimmer, down to the way you pair garments together and what you wear with them.

~ Follow the opposite rule: If you would like your legs to appear longer, then you can make your waist look higher by wearing a shorter shirt. If you want to make your torso look longer, wear a longer shirt. A top with a hem that lands mid hip is also flattering for most any bodytype and height.

~ V-neck shirts are great for elongation and making you look taller and slimmer overall

~ Pointy toed shoes also have the same effect of creating the overall illusion of a longer line, and longer and taller visuals create a thinner overall appearance

"Money well spent!!

Tricia listened to my needs and tailored her recommendations to meet them. Between her review of my existing wardrobe, plus the shopping session to augment what I already had, I feel like I have an entirely new closet, as well as a better sense of how to mix things up while still looking put together and professional.

Her rates are very reasonable and her professional and creative attitude can't be beat!!"- Sarah L. Quincy, Ma
