I have been doing quite a bit of
corporate fashion seminars lately on topics such as Defining Business Casual and Professional Dress. It got me thinking that I should share some of these tips here as well!
The old suit used to consist of a boxy grey suit with a white button down shirt underneath. I call this "the unintentional office uniform". See Trust in Tricia client below modelling her interview suit compared to the one I created for her using her own individual pieces.
Lucky for us, modern suits can now be made up of career separates put together to make a complete and unique suit. Here's 4 easy steps on how to do this:
Why I love this new concept?
- You get more bang or your buck! You can take one suit and split each piece up into 2 different outfits. You can also utilize the separates to carry into your weekend wardrobe as well, for example wearing your dressy blouse out with jeans on the weekends and under your suit during the week.
- You get to inject more of your personality and style into your "office uniform" by mixing different colors, patterns, shapes and accessories.
- All in all, it makes dressing for work more fun!
*Tricia's Tip: Creating a work wardrobe that includes lots of neutrals allows for the most versatile and easy way to mix and match layering pieces, because all neutrals (black, white, grey, brown, navy) can be mixed together and/or with any one pop of color.
