Step 1: Start with straight or skinny leg jeans. Flares and bootcut jeans do not fit smoothly into calf or knee high boots! You have to start with the right silhouette to pull off this look correctly.
Step 2: To eliminate bunching, the bottom of the jeans should fall just at your ankle (right above the "ankle ball"). If your jeans are long, cuff them to that height.
Step 3: Pull hems tight to your ankle, wrapping and folding the outside of the leg inward, towards and over the front of the jeans
Step 4: Pull your socks up completely over the fold, locking it in place
Step 5: Slip on your boots!
If you find that your fold is too bunchy or doesnt stay, you may need longer and/or tighter socks. OR you could pick up a pair of Hollywood Boot Straps to hold your jeans in place. I tried them and they do work!
