The New Year is a time for new beginnings and to set goals that strengthen the entire family. Being healthy means more than simply being physically active.  It's about maintaining a balanced spirit, mind and body. The Y is a place where you can work toward that balance by challenging yourself to learn a new skill or hobby, fostering connections with friends through our lifelong learning programs, or brining your loved ones closer together through our many family-centered activities. At the Y, it's not about the activity you choose as much as it's about the benefits of living healthier on the inside as well as the outside. When thinking about the New Year, the Y reminds families that building and maintaining family connectedness is on of the most important resolutions.

Our focus is on kids and families beginning at birth, helping to prepare them for kindergarten and support them through their school age years, before, during and after school and summers. We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life and future success, making for confident kids today, contributing and engaging adults tomorrow. Our strategic goals in 2014 support this vision.

We wish you a very Happy and Healthy New Year! I invite you to join, give or volunteer at your local YMCA branch to be a part of something great!

HEALTHY LIVING DINNER

The Healthy Living Dinner held on November 2nd was a great success! Your participation helped us raise close to $50,000 to fund Healthy Living initiatives!

READY, SET, GO!

This year the Ready, Set, Go program reached over 200 children along with 75 students at Glacier's Edge Elementary School. The kids read 26 books, ran 26 miles and participated in 26 acts of service. The final .6 of the "marathon" was completed at the fall Madison Marathon event. With the help from our great sponsors, the Cuna Mutual Foundation and Scholastic books, the kids already want to participate again next year. Each child that participated earned a t-shirt, medal and a book from Scholastic.
