SHAPING THE FUTURE TOGETHER

Dear Friends,

We are pleased to report that we have had a great start to 2015. Your generosity and support of MAP has lead to so many great success stories. Our joint efforts have nourished and empowered thousands of children around the world. We are so delighted to share some of these success stories with you. We thank you for being the light of hope for these children. Read on to learn more about the work you have made possible.

We are also thrilled to report that MAP received four grants for the total of $228,000 in the first quarter of 2015. We are grateful for the generosity and trust of these individuals and foundations.

  • $100,000 grant from Tahbazof Family Foundation to build a school in the Sistan Baluchistan region of Iran.
  • $ 93,000 from Mr. Shapour Hakam for the building of a school in Azerbaijan.
  • $ 25,000 grant from HEDCO Foundation for the purchase of vehicle and equipment for the Hawaii Academy of Sciences Vocational Training Program.

MAP in the U.S.

We continue to expand our Nutrition Outreach and Supplemental Education Programs in the U.S. Each day, one in every five children goes hungry in the U.S. MAP is committed to serving as many of these children as possible, through our Nutrition Outreach Program and by working with organizations such as Generosity Feeds. Through our Nutrition Outreach Program, we regularly provide meals to hundreds of children living in poverty. The food is distributed through schools and other centers to hard working families who have to make the difficult choice between feeding their children or paying their bills. The impact of this program has been tremendous.

Thank You Moms Against Poverty!

Additionally, thanks to a grant from HEDCO Foundation MAP continues the support of the Workplace Readiness Program at the Hawaii Academy of Arts & Science Charter School. This school is located in Pahoa, one of the poorest economic regions in the state and it provides vocational training, independent living, functional academic, and social skills to students with special needs; aged 14-22.

MAP in India

This year we have expanded our work in India by supporting Mother Miracle School in Rishikesh.  We have purchased classroom technology equipment for their school. The equipment will ensure that the 340 students at this free school will develop strong foundation in all subjects as well as have access to advanced teachings which their textbooks do not provide.

MAP continues to support a Boys Home and 3 learning Centers in Orissa, India. The home and centers are located near the poorest slums in Raygada and provide free education and meals for 150 impoverished children.

MAP in Cambodia

In Cambodia, MAP supports a Home for Child
ren, three free Health Clinics and an Education Outreach Program.

HOPE CH is home to 20 thriving children in a village outside of Phnom Penh. Last year MAP's Board visited Cambodia and witnessed firsthand the poverty within this

community. This compelled us to start a pilot Education Outreach Program for the children of this village. This year we are pleased to report that we have expanded this pilot program into an After School Community Program. This program provides Computer, Math and English classes to over 100 students.

MAP in Africa
We have commenced construction of a school in Mbour, Senegal. The recent United Nation's Human Development Report introduced a Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), which identifies multiple deprivations in the same households in education, health and standard of living. According to these standards, 74% of the population of Senegal live in poverty, 50% of them live in severe poverty and over 30% of children lack education.

This school will provide stability, safety and change for the children in this area. The school is being built in two phases with the help of Natangu Sngal. We need an additional $29,700 to complete the second phase of this project which will add three additional classrooms.

Please help us complete building of this school. Donate Now

MAP in Afghanistan
Schools are in full session in Afghanistan and the 2,400 students at Sorya High School are thriving in MAP-supported computer, literacy, peace and education programs. Hear Nigina's story on how your support impacts the lives of these girls.

"My name is Nigina a ninth grade student at Sorya High school. I want to write about that what is peace? Peace is the best word and is the word that everyone likes. Stability of peace in environment is related to the people live in that. If the people live in the society want to live peacefully they themselves can provide the peaceful environment for them. One day I and my classmates were sitting together and we were talking together suddenly I noticed that there were two small children were fighting each other and one of my classmates said look how nice they fight and it is very interesting, I went and apart them and came back and said to my classmate that fighting is never interesting. It is the result of fighting that from the day we born we still face lots of problems and my friend regret of her speech and said you are right that we should invite people to peace and live peacefully. I am so happy that I learned lots of things from peace education program."
