We mourn the loss of Workmen's Circle member, Paul Ziegler.

Arbeter Ring member Paul Ziegler passed away on October 9 at the age of 92, leaving his wife Roberta (also a member), three children and five grandchildren. An obituary was published in the L.A. Times on October 11.

Paul had lived in Los Angeles/Santa Monica since 1948. Although he made a successful career in sales, his first love was theater. In his later years he directed seniors in dramatic productions, included a memorable "Lonesome Train" by Earl Robinson. Paul (or "Pinky," as he was known to friends), believed passionately in peace and social justice. He walked in the 1986 Great Peace March from L.A. to Washington, DC.

Paul was often the first voice in our SoCal Arbeter Ring community to call over the years for a public stance against war when occasion arose. He contributed funds to place our statements for Middle East peace in the local media.

In 2009, when the Men's Group formed at Arbeter Ring, Paul became a charter member, bringing his long experience with "encounter groups" in the 1960s and '70s to our table. His support for the other men in the group was unconditional, his questions often probing and challenging. Age and infirmity, alas, prevented him from continuing with the group.

His family has asked that donations in his name be made "to a peace and justice related organization of your choice."
