| Note from our Director: Around the Center |
As we approach the longest day of the year, I feel a great appreciation for all of the light brought to our cultural center by the amazing volunteers who are organizing cultural, political, and social events at our center. A special thanks to Myra Boime for launching the Education Committee for the Clean Money Campaign and to Anne Geffner for organizing last Saturday's Yiddish Sing-A-Long and this Friday's Make Music LA event. Thank you to Tera Greene for helping with our social media and our weekly email newsletter. Also, thanks to District Committee member Susan Gosman for helping organize the going away luncheon for Eli Dugan, and to Ruth Judkowitz for organizing the musical portion of the event. It is with great sadness that we bid Eli farewell as he moves on to new adventures in Norway. Thanks also to our recent donors Sheila McCoy, Anne Geffner, Eric Gordon, John Rogers, and Sharla Fett.

Benefit concert featuring Uncle Ruthie!
|
July 14th
2-4 pm
Location: Our building, 1525 S Robertson Blvd, 90035
Join us July 14st for a benefit concert featuring the indomitable Uncle Ruthie!
Many of our members know Uncle Ruthie Buell, Workmen's Circle member and radio show host extraordinaire. Her popular Saturday morning show plays on KPFK at 8:30 am. Ruthie will, of course, sing some of her original songs, some funny, some serious, some outrageous and some ,all of the above. But this concert will bring you Ruthie reading from her first book of poetry, "COME TO MY VOICE". The book will contain a CD of Ruthie reading her poems with flute segues by Jeff Deaver. There will be several other surprises as well, plus Ruthie's oldest friend Sam Levine, The World's Oldest Living Acrobat. This is pretty much an adult concert, because rumor has it that UR is actually (all evidence to the contrary) an adult!
