(handicap access in rear of bldg, bathroom access with assistance)

The NWU Los Angeles Chapter is going on STRIKE!  On Sunday, April 28th at 2 pm, the chapter will play the new board game for the 99%, created by Corey Lee Wilson, a member of our own NWU L.A. Chapter. Would you like to educate working-class families about labor/trade unions, promote union solidarity, and have fun doing it? Join us and STRIKE! Workmen's Circle/Arbeter Ring will cosponsor this event with us. If you enjoy playing the game or think it would make a fantastic gift for the working-class folks in your life, Corey will offer a 10% discount on purchases that day.

When was the last time you: 1) played a board game with your friends, family, and fellow workers that's about the Ninety-Nine Percenters? About us? 2) played a board game about working-class families with middle-class values with the good of society in mind? 3) played a board game about union strategy? Organizing? Collective bargaining? Political persuasion? Deadlocked contract negotiations? Going on strike?

Are you ready for May Day??!! We'll get you in the mood for some labor activism with a couple of choice songs.

Part of our union solidarity work will be a silent auction to help our activist members with their union dues. If you have an item-a book, an art work, some jewelry, or a service of some kind-please bring it along, with a starting bid and bid increments. And all of us, please bring a few extra dollars or your checkbook in case you wish to make a purchase.

Please RSVP at  ericarthur@aol.com if you plan to attend, to help us set up the room. There will be no charge for this event.

Prop C Organizing Meeting -- May 8 at Workmen's Circle
Prop C is the measure that is in front of Los Angeles City voters on May 21, 2013.  It give us a chance to instruct members of congress to support limits on political campaign spending and urges elected officials to promote amendments to the United States Constitution to repeal the Citizens United supreme court decision.  These amendments will eliminate corporate personhood and restore to corporation's the privileges that are consistent with their intended purposes and goals.   Such bipartisan propositions have been approved by over 400 cities across the United States. On May 21st we will have our chance to vote on this important issue.  This is an opportunity to develop a new vocabulary to talk to our neo-con and libertarian relatives.

We are meetingWednesday, May 8. Come and be part of this growing movement. WE NEED YOU!

Place: Workmen's Circle
