As we look toward 2013, I continue to be inspired by the working-class Jewish immigrants who founded the Workmen's Circle / Arbeter Ring in New York 113 years ago. They could never have imagined the world in which we live today, just as it is hard for me to imagine New York City in 1900. I am amazed that those extraordinary shop workers - the 99% of their time - had the vision to start an organization that has lasted well into the twenty-first century.
Your support for that vision enables this organization to continue to thrive in Southern California, as we have since 1908. You have volunteered, donated, attended events, served as leaders in the organization, and so much more. This year we saw many of you at our Passover, Khanike, Kol Nidre, and Yom Kippur observances. We saw others of you at our overflow celebration of Soviet Yiddish culture, film screenings, open mic nights, and gallery exhibits. All of these events are made possible by the support of members, volunteers, and donors.
Please make a donation to the Southern California Workmen's Circle today, to reaffirm your commitment to progressive Jewish cultural life in Los Angeles. Now is the time to make a year-end gift to help us thrive in 2013.
Thank you for helping to preserve the legacy of the Workmen's Circle as an important progressive voice for Jewish cultural life in LA, for your past support, and for all that you do.
Click here to contribute online, or you can send your support to us at 1525 S. Robertson Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90035. If you would like to become a monthly sustainer rather than making a one-time donation, please email me.
With best wishes for a healthy and productive year,
Sincerely,
Kalil Cohen, Director
p.s. I know that many people are struggling in this economy. Any amount you can donate will help. And, if you can give more to make up for those who can't this year, please do so.
