The Workmen's Circle Khanike Freylekh!
|
To everyone who came to the Freylekh, a sheynem dank! We had a great time dancing, eating and coming together as a diverse and welcoming community.
We also raised over $700 for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, helping to ensure that hungry Angelenos are being fed this holiday season.
Huge thanks for the amazing artists, Heather Klein performed Yiddish Song, accompanied by Neal Brostoff and Gustavo Bulgach. Yiddish Dance was led by Bruce Bierman to live klezmer music by The Shpil!
And the wonderful visual art by Stacy Wexler!
We also celebrated Ben Froman's 91st Birthday!
Ben is former Chairmentsh of the Southern California District Committee, and a great leader in the community!

Fair Trade Chanukah Gelt
|
The gelt we eat on Chanukah is a reminder of the freedom our people won many years ago. Today, however, young children are trafficked and forced into working on cocoa farms with no pay and in unsafe conditions in the Ivory Coast, where more than half the world's cocoa is grown.
This Chanukah, we can support the 60,000 member farmers of Kuapa Kokoo, a Fair Trade cooperative in Ghana who are co-owners of Divine Chocolate. The organization is democratically run, and their children attend school rather than work in the fields.
Divine Chocolate is donating 10% of all sales to Fair Trade Judaica when you enter promo code FTJUDAICA at checkout, and your name will be entered to win a beautifully handcrafted wire and bead Fair Trade menorah made in South Africa.
