$10-$20 sliding scale donation
no one turned away for lack of funds

For three years, singer Heather Klein has worked together with communities, local artists and musicians to present "Hungry for Yiddish; A Mitzvah Project." Several klezmer bands, Yiddish singers, classical, and world musicians pitch in to present a series of concerts to raise money and awareness for the homeless and hungry population. 

Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, which provides hunger relief in Los Angeles county.

The Program
7:30-8:30PM: Yiddish song with Heather Klein's Inextinguishable Trio. Heather brings a captivating deep artistry and operatic technique to Yiddish song. Her voice call audiences to rapt attention, her songs deep with history infused with new life.  

8:30--8:45PM: Intermission w/ refreshments

8:45--9:30PM: klezmer dance party! The Workmen Circle's own Yiddish Dance Maven, Bruce Bierman, will lead to The Shpil and Klezmer Juice!


We will also be celebrating Ben Froman's 91st Birthday! 
Ben is former Chairmentsh of the Southern California District Committee, and a great leader in the community!

Call for Volunteers
Volunteer with the Arbeter Ring! 

We are looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks around the office.  Some of the things we could use help with include:

Gardening - help us maintain a beautiful property by trimming the hedges, and keeping the side grass healthy.
Data Entry - help us maintain an accurate database by updating member information.
Outreach - help us reach new folks by doing outreach to local organizations and communities online and by mail.
Library - help us catalog our collection and set up a lending library system.

Also, if you have a particular skill or talent that you'd like to offer to our community that isn't listed above, let us know!

 Hadasa CytrynowiczSpeak Yiddish!   

   Why not? Far vos nisht?   Every Monday at 2 pm

 

Thanks to your attendance, her Conversational Yiddish group is thriving with world-recognized Yiddish teacher, scholar, translator and raconteuse Hadasa Cytrynowicz. 

  

Originally from Lodz, and later a long-time resident of Brazil, Hadasa brings a wealth of experience and stories, songs, proverbs and sayings, poetry and interesting topics for discussion to her group. Each session is an hour and 15 minutes.  Admission is by voluntary donation.

  

Keep your Yiddish kite flying by attending this group! All levels of Yiddish are welcome. Kumt arayn!
