Greetings!
We have all felt the hole Frager's has left on Capitol Hill. But in a testament to the community's support for local businesses, and a reflection of this particular business's role in the neighborhood, over $130,000 dollars has been raised to support the employees and rebuilding efforts and, within a few days, a pop-up shop was opened across from Eastern Market. The temporary shop started with plants and has gradually added other products and services, including making keys and exchanging propane tanks.
DC Access is pleased to be part of the latest addition to the Frager's pop-up with free WiFi, enabling them to process credit card payments, access customer accounts and perform other web-based business. You can read all the details about this parthership here. We are happy to help out at the pop-up, but we will be even happier once its time to outfit the newly rebuilt Frager's on Pennsylvania Avenue!

DC Access Awarded DC-CAN Project
As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the District of Columbia has funds set aside to expand the city's broadband network, called the DC Community Access Network (DC-CAN). The network is designed to bring affordable broadband Internet service to more than 250 health, educational, public safety and other community anchor institutions. DC-CAN also creates a high-speed, open-access, middle-mile network for last-mile service providers to deliver affordable broadband to residents and businesses in underserved areas.
As part of the project, we are installing equipment required to establish broadband hotspots on government buildings and other community anchor institutions (CAIs) that are part of the DC-CAN network. This includes many 501c3 nonprofits that offer health or education services in the District.
As the city's only locally owned Internet service provider, DC Access is proud to be a partner on a project that not only draws on our technical expertise, but is also consistent with our dedication to the local community. Read more about our involvement with the project here.

Have You Updated Your Address Book?
Don't forget: for those of you who mail in your payment by check or who send checks via your online banking program, please update our address in your address book or biller profile. Payments that go to the old address do eventually make it to the office for processing, but there is a delay of several days which can result in payments being recorded as late. The new address is:
DC Access, LLC
1504 Pennsylvania Ave, SE #2
Washington, DC 20003

Meet Mike & Ryan!
We were excited to welcome Mike Ryan to our team this summer. Mike is helping us part-time with equipment assembly and installation. You may even recognize him from the Frager's garden center.
Mike is very handy, which is one of the reasons he's a great fit for us while he's not at Frager's. In his free time, he does landscaping and helps out in his dad's woodshop. But, at heart, Mike is an outdoorsman and likes playing paintball, camping, backpacking and canoeing.
Welcome Mike!
In our last newsletter, we also introduced you to Ryan Smith. She joined DC Access in the spring, handling many of our administrative tasks, such as bookkeeping and customer service. If you call, it may be Ryan that answers the phone and helps makes sure you get the right answer to your question the first time.
Ryan is also with us part-time as she pursues her degree in network and systems administration.

Meeting Space for Rent
At our new office building, we have added enough space to offer meeting space for rent by the hour ($50/hour or $300/day). This is a great solution for small businesses who need short-term work or brainstorming space.
For more information, email or call 202-546-5898.
