Dear MS Families,

Now that we have begun our school year, it is time to begin a new Jewish year! We at the Middle School wish all our students and their families a Shana Tova.

Please read on for updates on this week's activities and plans for the future.

I would also like to share with you this D'var Torah from Rabbi Dov Huff, Middle and Upper School Interim Limudei Kodesh Principal.

September 11 Commemoration

The Maimonides Middle and Upper Schools together commemorated the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11 with a moment of silence and a lowering of the American flag to half-staff. While the events of September 11 took place before the Middle School students were born, they appreciated the chance to hear about the experiences of the adults around them, which added to their understanding of the terrible events of that day.

Speakers stressed that the most meaningful way to commemorate this day is through our good deeds and self-improvement, and encouraged the students to do one extra good deed in memory of the victims.
