Welcome back from break! We hope your Pesach was meaningful and enjoyable.
This week the Middle School observed Yom HaShoah with a moving talk by survivor Janet Singer Applefield and guided conversations in the classrooms. This coming week will include the observances of Yom HaZikaron and Yom Ha'Atzmaut.
Please read on for the latest Middle School news and information on upcoming events.
I would also like to share with you this D'var Torah from Rabbi Dov Huff, Middle/Upper School assistant principal.

Students took shelter under Rabbi Soskil's umbrella this morning while passing the Middle School fire drill with flying colors.
Important Information About Marathon Monday
This upcoming Monday, April 20, is Patriots Day, and many major roads will be closed for the running of the Boston Marathon. Significant additional restrictions have been imposed due to the increased security measures this year. At this time it is projected that Beacon Street in Brookline and Commonwealth Avenue in Newton may be closed until nearly 6:00 p.m.
We recommend that you explore alternative routes to reach the school in order to pick up your children, or make arrangements for them to stay with a friend near the school until the roads have been reopened.
If you will be unable to reach the school to pick up your children at their regular dismissal time, special arrangements can be made to supervise your children until 6:00 p.m.
If you will need to make arrangements for us to watch your children beyond their regular dismissal time, you must notify us by Monday at noon so we can make the necessary arrangements: Sharona Vedol, svedol@maimonides.org or (617) 232-4452 x 200.
Please note that you must provide advance notice if you are planning to leave your children here beyond their regular dismissal time, and all students must be picked up by 6:00 p.m.
If you are planning to pick up your children at their regular dismissal time but encounter unexpected traffic delays on Monday afternoon, please call Elka Tovah Davidoff at (617) 232-4452 x 402 at that time.
We understand that this day will create extra challenges for many of our parents, and we appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
Taam China on TUESDAY
Please remember that this coming week, Chinese food will be served to the students who ordered it on Tuesday, rather than Monday, due to street closures on Monday.
Make sure your child brings in a lunch on Monday!
New Round of Chugim
The final round of chugim for the 2014-15 school year starts next week! Make sure your children have signed up for the chug of their choice.
