Middle School Actors' Guild Stages Plays
Please join us as the Maimonides Middle School Actors' Guild stages an evening of one-act plays on Sunday, January 25th and Tuesday, January 27th. Performances are at 7:00 p.m. on both evenings in the Brener gymnasium. The shows are suitable for all ages, and there is no charge for admission.
Over 25 students will take to the stage in plays written by five well-known authors of novels for middle grade readers. In addition, each of our casts is under the direction of a member of our 8th grade: Bayla Cohen, Ayelet Fried, Aviva Savitz, Talya Saltzman, and Josh Schoenberg.
On Monday, the sixth grade will be visiting the Christa McAuliffe Center at Framingham State University. This exciting trip and space mission simulation is always a highlight of our year.
Arrival: Please be extra certain that your sixth-grader arrives on time on Monday. It is essential that the bus leaves on time for the trip to Framingham. The bus will be leaving immediately after Shacharit; all students should eat breakfast at home. We will be back at school in time for dismissal.
Chinese Food: Chinese lunch for the sixth grade this week has been CANCELLED. All students who had ordered lunch for this week have been granted a $10 credit to use toward a lunch in the next round. Parents will receive a reminder about this credit when the new sign-up sheet is distributed in late February.
Lunch: All students must bring a bag lunch, including a beverage. There will not be access to microwaves or hot water, so please plan accordingly. Please send a simple snack.
Taam China Monday
We look forward to serving Chinese lunch on Monday, January 26!
Please note that only 7th- and 8th-grade students will be receiving Chinese lunch this week; if your 6th-grader is signed up to receive it, his/her order has been cancelled for the week (see article above) and $10 credit has been assigned to him or her.
Upcoming Living Room Learning in Newton
Join Upper School teacher Karyn Spero on Tuesday, February 10, from 7:45-9:00 p.m. for a Torah conversation focusing on Moshe's eventful first year as the newly-appointed leader of Bnei Yisrael, following the exodus from Egypt. The topic will be: "From Staff to Calf: Moshe's Leadership in Sefer Shemot." This discussion will be hosted by Rachel and Ernest Mandel at 195 Mill Street in Newton.
Ms. Spero explains, "Once again we will engage the text and each other, this time through an in-depth study of Moshe's leadership from the splitting of the Red Sea to the Sin of the Golden Calf. We will explore the beginning of his journey down the path towards his destiny as he transforms into the paradigmatic navi, ambassador of G-d, and defender of the Jewish people."
On behalf of the entire Middle School: Shabbat Shalom!
