From the desk of Teri Van Frank, President/CEO

Teri Van Frank
President/CEO
Share One, Inc.
Happy 2013 from Share One!

With a successful 2012 behind us, we are reviewing our accomplishments and planning for a very busy and bright future.

Daryl Tanner retired at the end of 2012 after 15 years of leadership at Share One. Daryl will serve in a consulting role for me and the executive team. With the strong foundation that Daryl has provided, we will all strive to continue his dedication to our clients and the credit union industry.

In May, the board elected me as President/CEO of Share One and, in December, elected me Chairperson of the Board. I look forward to working with all of you as we grow and strengthen Share One and as we continuously work to improve NewSolutions.

Share One's growth bloomed in 2012. Our financial security has been strengthened with the addition of our new clients and new service selections made by existing clients. We are achieving this growth by the addition of 13 new employees to the Share One staff. We filled critical positions in the following departments: Installations, Internet Development, Programming/Development, and Customer and Technical Services. With our anticipated installation staffing needs filled, we will continue to strive for superior service and innovative product additions.

Share One now serves 89 credit unions. Many of our new clients as well as existing clients are selecting the Service Center and Hosted Solutions options for delivery of NewSolutions.

Please remember that as President/CEO, I will continue the open-door policy that we have always provided. I am also pleased to welcome our new Customer Service Manager, Becky Johnson. Kim (Patterson) Young and I, as well as the entire customer service staff, will be assisting Becky to complete her learning and transition process as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your continued support. We wish you a prosperous and happy 2013!

Register Now Button

Wednesday, January 23 @ 12:00 Central Time

Members can now view their virtual statement electronically on Home Banking. This is in-depth instruction on how to set it up and make it run.

We will review the multi-step NewSolutions vStatements process:
* Choose a statement format.
* The Statement program is run to create the vStatements.
* The regular EOM statement file can be used if the CU wants vStatements created for all their members or a separate configuration is used for just those members with the Has E-Statements flag selected.
* A separate Automation job, StatementIndex, is run to create a link to the vStatement record so that NewSolutions knows where the file resides.
* The vStatement is immediately available for viewing on Home Banking and on the Statement Inquiry in Teller.
* A separate Automation job, Statement Email, must run to generate the e-mails notifying the member that the statement is ready for viewing on Home Banking.

Disaster Recovery News - Downey FCU Upgrades to DR Full Protection Plan
Downey FCU
Clients Participate in a Disaster Recovery Skit at the 2012 Client Conference

Many Share One clients either participated in or witnessed a dramatization of the steps and process involved in getting any credit union business up and functioning in an actual disaster.

Steve Hammit of Downey Federal Credit Union (pictured above left and center) was surprised by the reality of the time and hassle involved to recover from a disaster...especially when a credit union does not have the Share One Disaster Recovery Full Protection Plan. (Also pictured above right is Lisa Smith of CORE Credit Union - CORE is fully protected!) Downey FCU was minimally protected by Plan C, also known as: Off-Line Backup with No Replication.

Downey FCU has upgraded to the Full Protection Plan and has agreed to share their experience moving through the process.  With their current plan, in order to begin the recovery process, Downey FCU would have to ship their system backup files to the Share One office.  As demonstrated at the conference, this process alone is full of pitfalls. Even if everything works out correctly (ie: the system backup is available, in a readable format, and ready to ship) the process will take time.  In today's 24-hour service world, most credit unions don't have that kind of time in an actual disaster.

Step one in the upgrade process has begun. Downey FCU and Share One have had the initial call and documentation of their system/ancillary systems is in progress. Some of the initial issues that were discussed: defining all of the third-party systems' contacts, determining number of licenses, and securing firewall tunnels.

Thanks to Downey FCU for agreeing to share their upgrade progress!
