Dear Friends,

It's a foggy and chilly day this morning on the farm as we're harvesting our gorgeous produce and flowers for this week's deliveries.  I've dashed into the office to send your list of products for the week and have been grazing on cauliflower, arugula and red mustard for jolts of flavor.  There's no comparison to food pulled fresh from the earth for taste and nutrition.

Cauliflower is a member of the broccoli family, roughly translated to mean it's really good for you.  Here's a fast and easy way to prepare:

Heat oven to 500 degrees.  Break apart the cauliflower head and toss with olive oil, chopped garlic, squeeze of lemon and a little salt and pepper.  Put in a roasting pan and cook for about 15 minutes.  Sprinkle with a couple of tablespoons of Parmesan cheese and chopped scallions. Serve.  How easy is that?

You could, using the same seasonings, slice the russet potatoes into 8th's long wise, season, and put into the same oven.  They might take a few minutes more than the cauliflower or put them in first.

We seeded basil last week but it likes warm weather so it will be a while to mature.  Meanwhile, I'm missing pesto so this week am going to make an arugula pesto.  Here's a link to 20 arugula recipes that all sound good to make.  There's one in there for pesto if you need pointers.

We now have a 'tab' on www.seabreezeorganicfarm.org to purchase a share that goes directly for local military families.  Those of you that can, we sincerely encourage you to do so, helping to give them nutritional food and stability for the farm.  Letting your friends and associates know of this program will be appreciated as well.

May you enjoy and utilize all your items for this week.  If you need suggestions for use or recipes on any of your items, feel free to email me and I'll help.  It's a wonderful time of the year for cooking (and it warms the kitchen!).
