"Our primary health care should begin on the farm and in our hearts, and not in some laboratory of the biotech and pharmaceutical companies."

Dear Friends,

Once again, our delivery days are changed for this week. Thursday deliveries will be on Tuesday and Wednesday's will remain the same.  We'll be back to normal the week of January 5, thank goodness.

With the New Year upon us, thought it'd be appropriate to send a traditional heirloom pea/bean that symbolizes prosperity for the coming year.  Besides, they're delicious, an excellent source of nutrients and taste good too.  Here's a recent article and recipe from the Times on it's place in history.

Black Eyed Peas from New York Times

Here's the easy way I do them. Rinse your beans, place in medium/large sauce pan, add 6 or more cups of water or vegetable broth.  Bring to a boil, turn off heat and let sit for an hour.  Meanwhile check your frig and see what needs to be used.  Greens, onions, garlic, pepper, carrots, and celery can all be added.  Chop up your choices, add to peas, lightly season and simmer until peas are soft. Check after about 30 minutes.  Don't overcook. Some cooks like to add ham.

May you enjoy and utilize all your items for this week.

Happy New Year, peace and well-being to you all.
