September 1st..Labor Day and Holiday for most. Here's a little food for thought - we are on our normal necessary daily work schedule. We've been harvesting the lettuces, salad, beans, flowers, sprouts and other vegetables today and will be at it again tomorrow for all of our deliveries this week.
Good news..the heat should diminish somewhat next week. Yes, every season has it's temperatures and it's all enjoyed however, planting, harvesting, weeding and schlepping in general sure loses it's glamour when the gauge rises. The cantaloupe and tomatoes are still happy though (as long as the water comes out the hose). That's what they need to form their sweetness and nutrition so enjoy them while they're here. Nature provides us with moisture laden fruits and vegetables in the warm times and stores nutrient rich roots and vegetables in the winter when we need nutrients to ward off illness. Amazing how all that works!
