LIFE ON THE FARM
Summer is days away yet it feels like it's arrived a month ago here in Carmel Valley! While reading about the origins of White Corn to share with you this week I'm just wowed by it's history! Did you know that Corn is really a grass plant (yes, corn is a grass, but classified as a grain here in the US and the Kernels as Vegetables) has been growing in the Americas for over 7,000 years! I guess what really baffles me is that in less than 2 decades of that 7,000 years GMO versions, Genetically Modified Organisms can not cross pollinate as they fly on the wind the natural ways as in the past. Bees can't use the GMO versions and end up dying trying. Enjoy the real sweet white corn in your share this week. It's ancient sweet flavor will delight you.
