 Violets

Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all.

This week's delivery items for all sizes

Dear Friends,

The farm is starting to show her bone structure. Thank goodness for good breeding.   The growing fences expose their years of service now that the cucumbers, beans and winter squashes have been harvested.  The planting beds look rich and dark after watering waiting for the direct seeding of carrots, beets, kohlrabi, radishes and turnips to emerge (hopefully before the weeds do).  The newly planted beds of broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and lettuces await their growth spurt and the back up armies of the small tansplants plus many varieties of other vegetables and flowers await their turn from the nursery greenhouse.

It's a time of 'in-between'.  Although we miss the pulsing growth of spring and summer, we longingly await the first of our rains, although usually not until November.  October is a month of great beauty and the onset of shorter days (earlier to bed!) however it's also a month we hold our breath against the searing Santa Ana winds and the dangers that go with them.

Did you know its National Coffee Day?  No, really.  And the articles are popping up with the benefits of our warm brew plus warnings of where and how the beans are grown and handled.  With a clear conscience, we encourage you to try our Seabreeze coffee.  Our source of beans is from a coalition of small farms grown organically and under the shade canopy.  Then, when our orders come in, they are roasted by the Spangler family here in San Diego and then delivered to Seabreeze.  Won't you try our coffee?

Another item in the food news again is about the important of alkalinity in our foods.  Of the list of 6 items in this article, 5 of them were in your deliveries last week.

We had a lovely guest a couple of weeks ago, Jessica Johnson.  She likes to find the hidden treasure spots of San Diego and featured us for her latest.  Scroll down for her photographs.  I think she really captured the feel of the place and we're working on having her teach art classes here:Hidden San Diego

Seabreeze welcomes Mia Andres and Eric Scott to a Community Farm to Table event on November 2nd.

All of your Green Store orders are much appreciated and if there are items you'd like us to carry, please drop me a note.
