A garden is a grand teacher. It teaches patience and careful watchfulness: it teaches industry and thrift; above all it teaches entire trust. -Gertrude Jekyll

Dear Friends,
Baby ducks and chicks...is there anything sweeter? The photo above is 10 years old now. Our little flock has served us well devouring any snail or slug that wanted to move in. That has been one of the greatest miracles on the land....no slimy critters to hunt by hand anymore. Since they are getting older, we decided to let one of the girls sit on her eggs. Out of 8 eggs, only one matured and hatched...one lucky duck!
Corn, cantaloupe, cucumbers and squash...that's what summer weather excells in producing. The one bug a boo I think we all have problems facing each week is sqaush..boiled, baked, grilled, shredded, steamed..it's still squash...so bear with us, we're not planting anymore for the season.
