Dear Friends,
Here's a nice note from a shareholder last week:
"Seabreeze, never again will I dismiss any bunch of 'something' green from you all. I may have been sent French sorrel in the past, but lazy or busy me (take your choice), never used it. I first took a bite and tasted the sharp lemony flavor, decided it was not to my taste to put in a salad and then looked up an old recipe you had given about Shirred Eggs and Sorrel (found the one for soup too but it was too warm a day). Using your eggs, sorrel and butter, I made the most delicious eggs my family has ever had! Thank you once again for opening our world of food!"
The timing of her note couldn't have been better for our morale. We've had a rash of cancellations the last few weeks and again, the emails almost always say how much they've enjoyed the deliveries and they wish us well but for one reason or the other want to stop. That said however, it makes running a little business that much harder so perhaps you could help spread the word we have shares available.
Here's the Shirred Egg recipe:
Wash and slice the bunch of French Sorrel. Melt about 2 T of good butter or Coconut Butter in a NON aluminum skillet. Beat desired number of eggs with a little water and salt and pepper while warming pan on medium heat. Put sorrel in pan and let melt for about 4 minute and then add beaten eggs. As they start to firm up, gently pull egg mixture from sides of pan and let liquid fill space. When almost all firm, lower temperature and place a lid on top. Serve hot.
We like these with a few sprinkles of chopped cooked bacon on top and a dollop of sour cream on the side, served with good toasted bread and homemade jam. Yum..
All of your GreenStore orders are much appreciated an if there are items you'd like us to carry, please drop me a note.
Happy cooking and feel free to contact me if you need help or suggestions--and that includes your likes and dislikes..
I read all the emails.
