Take up the spade with song.  Nurture early on.  Be fervent while you plot.  Chart the spot. Prune with certainty and care.  Growth stops there.  Patience, patience, time to grow.  Reap what you sow.  Hardly the Garden of Eden?  Thankful for another season. - Laurie DeGrave

Sweet Peas

Dear Friends,

I picked the first pale lavender sweet pea yesterday and put into a simple vase in the art studio.  All our growing fences are covered with sweet peas and snap peas and soon will be lush with color and fragrance.   Still a little sparce, they are growing and filling in as slowly our days get longer.  We got through the cold snap fairly well as the crops go and we people are so grateful the sun warms us from the chilly morning.

It's blueberry and potato season...russets, reds, Yukon golds..they're especially good this year.  I've made oven baked fries, baked whole, pan fried with shallots and peppers, creamy soups, stews, with eggs......we're going to keep sending them each week unless we hear otherwise from you.

I'm repeating the changes to our Customer Agreement we sent last week in case you might have missed it.  :

We've made changes to our Customer Agreement.  Negotiations take 2 sides to come to an agreement and truthfully, for years I've tried my best to have shareholders understand from our point of view that we're not a normal business where one can start and stop our service when needed.  Especially summers and winter it throws the business into a tail spin.. shareholders cancel, I can't pay the bills and then I'm extra stressed and get a pious attitude about how valuable local farmers are and how we're so misunderstood.  Well, I'm head strong.  I admit it.  That's one of the traits one needs to run a farm and stay in business however I'm going to gamble (it's in a farmers blood to take risks) and be more flexible about 'skipping' now and then and vacation times.  Hopefully, this will keep  more clients during these high cancellation times to last through the year and we can set a little aside to cope with the drop in income.  We'll see.  Here is the link:Shareholder Agreement

Also, we're offering a 5% credit back to your account if you order $100 worth of goods from the Green Store.  It's easy to add items from the Green Store.. we appreciate all orders.

A shareholder posted this article and thought I'd pass it along: Bring Back Home Economics

Happy cooking and feel free to contact me if you need help or suggestions--and that includes your likes and dislikes..
