Being in love is spectacular,
intense, and passionate;
it makes everything seem brighter, happier, and limitless. But, keeping romantic love going can be hard. "Love is an art", writes Erich Fromm, an interpersonal creative capacity that requires care, respect, and responsibility. And, it calls for patience, discipline,
concentration, and an ultimate desire to love and be loved.*
Wait...what happened to all the fun and passion? Right, all that hard work isn't easy, but love ultimately makes life sweeter and more fulfilling; and the fun and passion can be better, deeper, and long lasting.

At its best, romantic partnership pushes us to grow and encourages each individual to be her or his best self. This requires us to:
- Journey beyond the known and comfortable;
- Examine triggers, blind spots, and how our core patterns contribute to the relationship dynamics we create and repeat;
- Take responsibility for creating change;
- And, ultimately cultivate generosity and acceptance for the other and ourselves.

Horses have an amazing capacity to help us break old patterns, create change, and deepen our love. When partners in a couple engage with each other in the arena, the horses reflect their dynamics, providing insight and opportunity.
Mark and April found out just how powerful this can be when they were given the task of moving a horse into a space they had designated as "intimacy". The horse and their engagement with him represented their "connection". As their frustration with each other escalated, they shifted from working together to trying one at a time to move the horse, with no results. We called a time-out and asked them to just
be curious about what had happened and to check in with how they felt deep down.
As they shared about their sadness around this pattern, they walked close to each other and began to let go of their anger and frustration. They talked about different ways of approaching the challenge and decided to go stand in the space they had ... - Read More

Dear (Contact First Name),
Love is an amazing and powerful emotion - it encapsulates human kindness, compassion, and affection, ranging from platonic to romantic, passionate, erotic love. We need love and are wired to form close relationships with others. But often people struggle with knowing how to love themselves and others. And, the joys of love seem to be just beyond our reach, leaving us longing and lonely.
Sometimes we haven't yet found the right person, other-times we have found the right person, but unhealthy patterns get in the way of fully embracing each other and having the passion, intimacy and joy we desire.
The wisdom and unconditional love that horses have can help us break old patterns, create change, and connect with love and passion. Check out our article (left column) and get tips to help you harness the power of love.
